Interesting to read that Brian NEVER played on the track originally (yet John, and Roger did), so was there ever a full Queen version back then or was it always purely a Freddie solo track that John and Roger helped Freddie to demo back in the day?
Also that the delays in release, which were thought to be the blame of the Jackson Estate, seem to lay at Orbit's door as a result of taking himself off (a mini breakdown??) in the middle of the project. If only they hadn't waited for him and had pressed ahead with a decent mix.....

Now you've worked with Michael Jackson's vocals on this project, would you consider contributing to one of his own posthumous records in the future?
"I would. Is there anything left? There's been two projects. Personally I'm going to give a very distinct no comment on my views musically [on them]. No comment is firmly in the middle of any possible answer I might give. It means I'm not making a comment, but it needs an awful lot of improvement, doesn't it? Who wants a record where people say no comment? There's a long way between no comment and brilliant, and I feel I could possibly move things a bit north of the no comment."

No, he talks about the Jackson stuff like "This is it" if I'm not mistaken.

So all this talk that TMBMTLTT was meant to end The Works album is bullshit ? We can base assumption on Orbit's answer that there doesn't exist finished 1984 Queen version of the song, only a demo....Shame.
Or perhaps it just didn't feature any guitar? (And hence why Brian didn't want it on the album)

He's talking about album MICHAEL (2010) and XScape (2014).

...And that worked realy well with the Queen remixes, which the people just loooved.
I guess he would be happy for "no comments" right about now.

Thanks, that thought crossed my mind but on the other hand it is a song which is very good musically and I thought that Brian just wouldn't push for ending The Works with ITTWWC only because There Must Be.... didn't feature any guitar.
Btw is there any possibility that there was an original guitar track (1984 ver.) for TMBMTLTT but it got "lost" in the archives (as was the case with Don't Stop Me Now) ?
Orbit did a poor job on TMBMTLTT in my book
Greetings to all my fellow Queenzoners

I can't see any mention that John and Roger played on this originally. Only that Brian didn't. Am I missing something?

John did, as he's credited on the cd sleeve as playing the bass, but I must admit that I am making an assumption on Roger. However, the drum sound on the track doesn't sound very modern so it's an educated guess.
