I am looking for the Freddie Mercury box set from 2000 . What was the original price when it came out. How tricky is it to get hold of in new condition?

I paid £80 on release if that's any help.

Yep, £80 on day one. Not too difficult to get, they're always on Shitbay and Amazon, although prices vary from £100 to £250. Whatever the condition, don't fall for the idiots who claim it's worth £3000 - it's not.

There's currently one on offer from a member of this group, absolutely brand new and still in it's original seal/mailer. Still a bit pricey, IMO - but as new as you'll get :)

One thing to watch out for, there are two versions of the box set with either NTSC or PAL DVDs. Make sure you get the one you want.

^ The good old days when we used to still get PAL releases!

Indeed, no pointless conversions of stuff that was shot in PAL in the first place, sigh.

So if I am buying the box set from the UK the 2 DVD's will be unplayable for me living in Canada (the UK being PAL and Canada NTSC). Assume me that at least the cd's will be playable!

Thanks,
Caroline

Hard to find the box set resale issued from US/Canada.

^ It's not the fact that the discs are PAL that may be your problem, it's the region coding.
Looking at my PAL box set there is no mention of region coding on the DVD's, so they may not even be an issue for you.
Even if they are actually region 2 discs, many players can be made multi region with a simple code entered via the remote.
Google your DVD player model along with "region hack" or similar.

.... and the CD's will play just fine on ANY player.

Thank you! I am looking forward to receiving the set in the mail...might take a while to get over to Canada. I'm not too good at these technical issues but
I will figure it out when it gets here. I will google my DVD model.

I would like to buy one box set too.
Here in muy country (Peru) I have found someone that sells it for about $620 (in excellent condition, but not mint).
Is that worth??
