I always felt like I knew the lyric and melody, 'Listen little baby, let me tell you what it's all about' from somewhere else.
Lo and behold! (relevant time is linked):

The lyrics are just slightly different. The melody is very similar, except in a minor and slightly higher key for Modern Times.
Anyone see the resemblance, and think it's enough to be significant? It's not like ABC's really the sort of rock and roll song that Roger's singing about on that track, but he still could've derived it from there.

Yeah, that's definitely too similar to be a coincidence. Though it might not be intentional - maybe Roger had the melody stuck in his head but had forgotten where it came from.

Haha...........thats kinda funny..........two TOTALLY different styles of music, but very similar lines.............I never would have thought of that myself, but I knew what you were talking about right away........

LOL
Michael Jackson was Roger's favourite singer!

Maybe that's one of the songs (modern times rock 'n' roll) he was tired of when he wrote that song, just a thought.

Hm........didnt think of that, but maybe..............(I guess I dont really look into the meaning behind the lyrics n all that.........I'm more focused on the music)

That seems possible.
On a similar note, the song's inclusion just before the Rock and Roll Medley in 1974 concerts was a nice bit of irony that I never noticed until recently.

Well often in Queen's songs there's not so much specific meaning to be found in lyrics. A lot of it's just emotional impressions, in line with Freddie and Brian's desire for their music to be universal. Roger's contributions, however, tend to be a lot more grounded and direct in that sense, e.g. Drowse, and of course Modern Times.

I hear 'sucking' on both March and November. It is a bit less clear on the former, but still not a fully blown f sound.
