Queen crest Queenzone

So someone started a petition for Buenos Aires 1981. I signed it, will you?

I believe this show will be released someday. Maybe packed with the brazilian show, i dont know. But it's too soon for it, Rock Montreal was released only 7 years ago, and it's basically the same setlist.

I don't know the possibility of it being released by Queen, but I signed it. I would love to see a dvd release from South America '81.

Why on earth would we want a new release from the '81 tour? Just because it's South America? I'd much rather see something from a tour we HAVEN'T had releases from. So no, I'm not going to sign this, even aside from the fact that QP wouldn't even notice, let alone care about, this petition.

And much worse video (and probably audio) quality.

If you are wondering here's why for me:

1- South America '81 tour is very important in Queen history, Audience attendance was a world record at that time if I'm not mistaken and reaction is much better than Montreal.
2-I love watching Queen performing to a stadium full of people rather than a few thousand in a hall.
3- 1981 tour featured Queen without synths onstage for the last time and I like seeing them performing The Game songs live without synths, even though they used the synths on the original album. (especially Need your Loving Tonight and Rock It, two personal favorites which do not appear in Montreal show)
4- Save Me...one of my top ten Queen songs which I love hearing live without synths. I like the way Brian starts on piano and all you hear is piano, bass and drums with Freddie's wonderful voice. I like seeing Fredie replacing Brian on piano and then this great short guitar solo accompanied with piano by Freddie. Yes we have this in Montreal but I love it so much that I want to see it again on a different show on DVD. I personally don't get the same taste in Milton Keynes '82 show as we have an extra man on keyboards.

and to finish with I did not mean I don't want anything from a different tour or from 70s. Let them release every possible show on dvd. I would love to see something from A Day At The Races or News Of The World tours as well.

I still say we sign it because if this petition does work, how awesome would it be for something to come out that fans specifically made an effort for and not just whatever they decide to give? To show that a band's fandom truly does have a voice?

If a petition would actually work (its likelihood is slim to nil), why a show that has almost the same setlist as the Montreal release that will just be worse quality?

Hyde Park 76, Earls Court 77, Paris 79, Tokyo 79, Hammersmith 79 - all are far more interesting alternatives.

Although Houston 77 is mostly redundant compared to your above list (aside from Mel-Blues) I really hope that Houston 77 is also released primarily based on the following:

 - Mil-Waltz transition into Best-Fr
 - Liar broken string plus Roger high-hat sounded "mystical" to me
 - Love-Life without audience participation that would otherwise overshadow Brian's guitar and Freddie's vocals.

Of course maybe it is my nostalgia of first seeing the Houston video at a "Breakthru" convention in the early 2000's, plus being the first to share the Houston 77 audio on Queenzone in the mid-2000s, that makes me consider Houston 77 as special.
A letter writing campaign would make a much bigger impression. I know a thing or two about campaigning for DVD releases.

Yeah, all good points.

But apparently Roger's vocal is distorted on the multi-track, making the audio unusable.

If the vocal is isolated, he could re-record it. It depends how much effort they want to put into it. And of course it wouldn't be the same, but it;s one of those equations they might consider given they have film footage of the show, which basically gives it an edge over all the audio-only recordings they have. (And as we all know, some of the greatest "live" releases ever, weren't actually 100% live.)

Same with Earls Court. There are ways to release it even if the sound drops out at times. They can dub in vocals/instruments from another show, re-record vocals etc. I suspect if Rainbow proves to be a financial success we will see some more of these old shows now.

Where did you hear about Roger's vocal being distorted?
