That's a bit harsh - I think he was rather consistently in good vocal shape 1973 - 1975, on the NOTW tour and on the majority of their shows except on the Jazz/Works tour. Depends what you consider good, I suppose.[/QUOTE]

I said "often" .. not always !

Indeed, he was up and down, and definitely strong for much of the NOTW tour. But it wasn't until late 1979 that he really reached his potential on stage.

This show has always been missing Dragon Attack, Brian's guitar solo and the ending of Brighton Rock. Anyone know why? All of the radio broadcasts are missing them, too.

The best moment of Freddie´s vocals was really in this moment, but i like live at the rainbow vocals, and makes me wonder how many tracks of these show would be interesting in 80´s.

Dragon Attack was on the radio broadcasts and plenty of the bootlegs.

Always felt that the 82 and 85 Japan shows should get an official release (CD, DVD) for the rest of the world as they have only been made available in Japan only.

The surprise is the 79 and 82 are realeased (even not in full), considering the state of Freddie's voice.

The Yoyogi gig, on the other hand, only need a proper remixing, with less synths and more Red Special.

My bad. I haven't listened to it in ages and had forgotten that Dragon Attack is present on the radio broadcasts. Anyway, the guitar solo and Brighton Rock (ending) still remain a mystery.

It's hardly a mystery, is it?

A repetitive guitar solo (continuing all the way from 1969!) is the first thing to get the axe when you're making a recording interesting for the general public.

Especially when you have to cut a show into a specific length, for example to fit on to a 90 minute video tape.

To be fair, Freddie doesn't sound bad on the 5/11/1985 show. He does sing great versions of songs like "Dragon Attack," "Hammer To Fall," "Radio Ga Ga" and "It's A Hard Life" sounds pretty decent.

I just wished either 5/8 or 5/9 was the taped show - those were killer shows!
I always knew I was a star And now, the rest of the world seems to agree with me-Freddie Mercury

Just watched this today. Not bad at all, especially with the radio audio. The official audio sucks. One thing I noticed was that Spike's guitar was hilariously out of tune during Hammer To Fall. The guy comes to the stage to play guitar for only a few mintes and still his guitar is ouf of tune lol.

I doubt he had his own guitar tech, but he probably had a keyboard tech.

It'd be an interesting question to ask him.

I'd hazard a guess that Brian's tech would maybe look after Spike's guitar too.. Given that he only used it once or twice.

Do you guys know if there's a proper recording, with multi tracks, of this show (5/11/1985)?

What do you mean "with multitracks"?

I mean a proper recording of the show like they did with the official releases (wembley, rainbow, montreal, etc, etc), with the voice track, guitar, bass, drums, piano, etc.
