Had the privilege of seeing Queen in New Orleans on Halloween night 1978, Oakland in 1978, Frankfurt and Essen in 1980 and Frankfurt in 1982. Also saw The Brian May Band in Birmingham, AL in 1993, Q+PR in San Diego in 2006 and Q+AL in Houston 2014.
Just heard the podcast with Brian about the upcoming European tour, amongst other things, and while I loved all the Queen shows, and was super enthusiastic about the Q+PR collaboration and a bit skeptical about the Q+AL union I am tired of the constant selling that has to be done for the Queen+ events (especially the Q+AL shows).
I really enjoyed the Q+PR concert in 2006 and may be one of the few folks that actually thought, from a musical standpoint, that The Cosmos Rocks was pretty damn good!
I also enjoyed the Q+AL show in Houston in July 2014 but have to say that after attending that concert as well as watching numerous other concerts from the same collaboration there isn't the same spark or excitement there. The music is good, the production is good but it just doesn't make me cum (for lack of a better term).
In any event, after listening to Brian this evening on part one of the podcast I have to say that I am super, extremely and utterly tired of him (and Roger) trying to make me think that Adam Lambert is a rock god - he's not.
Please quote me - 3-5 years after their collaboration Lambert will be done, he will be nothing.
God bless all of you and please understand that by making the comments above I have no intention of aggravating, hurting or otherwise disturbing anyone who likes the Q+AL performances - Brian and Rogers performances are to die for in them but AL is not my cup of tea. Carry on!!!

I also hope you enjoy any Q+AL show's you attend in the European theater - it's just the constant selling of the shows that drives me nuts!! Thought AL did a spectacular job on quite a few song especially Love Kills and would like to hear him do "Let Me In Your Heart Again" - again it's the constant selling Brian and Roger do that kills me.

No, no, no you misunderstood - I'm not "Harvey from Louisiana" you goof (no harm intended) there is a city just outside of New Orleans, about 8 miles or so, called Harvey!!!! Check it out on googlemaps - see for yourself https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Harvey,+LA/New+Orleans,+LA/@29.9271775,-90.0947122,13z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m13!4m12!1m5!1m1!1s0x8620a14c2b40dd19:0x70e536e4a2e5a263!2m2!1d-90.0772944!2d29.9035387!1m5!1m1!1s0x8620a454b2118265:0xdb065be85e22d3b4!2m2!1d-90.0715323!2d29.9510658
I live in Harvey and work in New Orleans about 8 miles from my house. By the way New Orleans is a wonderful place - you can get all of the "big city" stuff for much less of the cost than you would normally encounter in a "really big city" but you can live pretty well here for a reasonable amount of income, provided you haven't been a bad boy and maxed out your credit cards!!!

FYI - the constant fighting about the Q+AL project isn't my deal. It isn't my favorite thing and I did enjoy the Q+AL Houston 2014 concert but all that crazy name calling and constant bashing isn't for me.
Somehow, despite my best efforts, I've managed to mature after 52 years on this earth.
Whether you like Queen or any of the Q+projects isn't the issue, it's the constant selling of them that Brian and Roger do that's the problem.
If a Q+ project is good then it shouldn't require much selling very far past the beginning of the new +project but if Brian and Roger continue to sell it hard years after the fact, and I mean fuckin' selling it hard for years after the fact, then there may be a problem - look at it from that perspective.

So funny, Harvey! I was just Facebooking my "Adam" friend who lives in Norco. We saw Adam in New Orleans and had the BEST time there! We got invited to his private "party" but that's another story!

Bohemian - thanks New Orleans is a cool town and is getting much better. Hurricane Katrina did a number on the whole region but overall I think the powers that be (i.e., politicians) used the recovery money in a fairly legitimate way (with exceptions, of course).
Whether or not someone liked Queen (Freddie, Brian, Roger and John) or any of the various Queen+ projects is really irrelevant to me.
What is important is that the original music is looked at as it was when it was released and does it still stand up today and I can say most of it is still relevant and it stands the test of time.
For the most part I'd say a very large part, close to 90% of Queen's music still stands up today as good, if not great music. The did have some clunkers in the brew!!
Those Queen+projects only serve to keep that original music in the public's consciousness which is good in the overall picture.
As mentioned before, I saw Q+PR in 2006 and also Q+AL in 2014.
Since Queen, in America, had not been seen since 1982 a chance to see Q+PR in 2006 was huge for me. Not sure why the 2006 venues were so un-attended but the show in San Diego on Apr 1, 2006 was big. I can still remember when it was just a few minutes before the concert proper that I looked at a lady next to me and said "I've been waiting for this for 24 years". Didn't say anything like that before or after the Q+AL concert in Houston 2014.
While the Queen+AL show in 2014 was good I can't say that I had that same feeling before or after the show as I did for Q+PR in 2006 - can't explain it except that AL doesn't do anything special for me - he's a voice, nothing more, nothing less; i.e., nothing special about the guy whereas Paul Rodgers had a rock n' roll history behind him and Freddie Mercury was Freddie Mercury - nothing more having to be said in that regard. .

Paul Rodgers wrote some of rock n' rolls greatest hits but with no offense intended Adam Lambert is a neophyte and Brian and Roger are using him simply as a voice.
