I never had chance to see Queen back in the day so I purchased a ticket to the Leeds arena last week and I was impressed. I wasn't really too fussed seeing AL and I had prepared myself prior to going to the concert with youtube videos etc.
Firstly I thought AL did well. Sometimes a little bit over the top with his vocals but he did sing all the songs well and can now understand why we was employed by Queen.
Brian May was just the same as all them years ago apart from the colour of his hair. But a man his age still running up and down was great to see,it was great to see. Pity I cant say the same about Roger. He looked overweight and very stiff on the drums,I guess its harder to maintain a good level of performance on the drums as it is on the guitar so I have to be fair on his age but he did look out of sorts.

All in all im glad I went. I was disappointed they didnt include hammer to fall and now im here which I would have loved to have heard but if it was ever possible I would go and see them again.

Hmm........I dont know, I think Roger's been sounding pretty good on the drums lately!

I think Adam could do a good job on Hammer To Fall.........maybe Brian doesn't like playing it without having a 2nd guitarist?

Spike can play the guitar too, remember?
I think the reason why they are not playing it is because they are playing all those songs that havent been played in lots of years until recently like Lap of the Gods, Save Me, etc...
Queen: Roger Taylor, Mike Grose, Freddie Mercury, Brian May.

I suppose that's true........something has to go, if they're going to add new stuff! New old stuff, that is.....as much as I'd like to see them playing a 3 1/2 hour set, that aint gonna happen....lol

I dont know why I keep forgetting about Spike playing guitar, when he played on the 84 and 86 tours.......

It is such a shame you missed seeing Queen live with Freddie Mercury, he was a diva and a true showman.
Lambert does not come near the brilliance Mercury had, and his singing is just plain and boring.
I agree Roger looks old and ready to drop, he should loose weight and get that ridiculous beard shaved off .
Queen are now like duracell batteries on there way ready to go flat with not much juice left in them!
Pity you have got to see them when they have now lost the old Queen magic.
No Freddie & John = No Magic!

I was at the same gig, and agree with most of what you have said here. Roger did look like he's starting to have a hard time, I noticed Rufus's part of the drum solo was rather more impressive, and that he took over on TYMD which is a very heavy hitting song.

Adam was a pleasant surprise. He really comes over much better in person than on the TV.

Don't worry about Gerry, his opinion isn't relevant.

Are you serious about this? What I've always thought about the drum "battle" was that the pieces from Roger were all differently exciting, while the ones from Rufus felt kinda the same - as you said, "heavy hitting". They call it a battle but to me it's more Roger showing off his skills. No offense to Rufus he is doing a great job on this tour and he's still young. It's just, more impressive than Roger, really? O.o

Well at least as a Queen troll he is trolling on a Queen forum. Can you imagine him posting daily in an Adam fan community? And if not, what makes *you* choose to post here? I've been curious for a long time...

We have 40 years worth of RT solos as reference, there's no way he is as capable as he once was. He was definitely taking it easy compared to previous years. Rufus is basically mimicking Roger's style in the drum battle, but he's at the point where he can play RT better than RT can now.

This is not a criticism, it's a very physical instrument, it's not at all surprising he is slowing down a bit at his age.
