I really like vibrato here. Similar to the album version. "You won't get very far!" :) http://youtu.be/OwSLtwdMEPY?t=2m39s .

Maybe it smokes Stockholm performance-wise (notes, sustain etc.) but Stockholm version is more emotional

It has to be the BBC 1977 version of "spread your wings"
This is a real Queen gem and Rogers drumming on this is heavy and sensational!
Freddie gives the vocals all he has got and Brian and John are on fire!
Great recording and the best version i have heard of this track. It is such a shame that the BBC version of "Its Late"
was ignored from the remastered delux 2011 versions of "News of the World cd.

Plenty of great versions. This song is actually one of my very favourites live.
I adore the ones where FM's voice is really good (crazy tour, notw like Copenhagen) but I also adore several Jazz/Live Killers versions where the interplay between the 4 of them is wonderful, like Vancouver '78, Paris '79, Zurich '79.

Copenhagen '78 and 2nd Newcastle '79 tie as #1 for me, but Chicago '78 is probably my 2nd favourite version.

Im a Queen fan for 25 years..my dad was too and my mother.. My mother was born and lived in Zagreb( Croatia)
from 1952 (born) to 85 till we move to Split also in Croatia.. So to shit no far I trust my dad when he said Spread Your Wings are best in Zagreb. they atfended that concert..similar stuff my dad said that about Bohemiam Rhapsody with Freddie did that "die" in a original key...
Dont want to bother no more with my family just saying some stuff...

BBC version is amazing! Live Killers version is better I think... has a different feelling... Generally, all live versions were great! Original version sucks!
I still really like the studio version. One of the main things that distinguishes it from live versions is that Freddie gets all the varied lyrics right - i.e. 'why can't you be happy'. That makes it that much better in my opinion.

BBC version (and pretty much any 1977 version) is brilliant, until they changed the arrangement in around '78 and wimped out on including the amazing double time extended jam section. Yes, there was a jam section but it was just a bit crappy. I used to like the Live Killers version but for some reason Roger's backing vocals are omitted...

Yes, the lyrics from the original version are better.
