Has anyone actually tried watching it on their TV set (assume you all know what one of those is?) through a media player?
It astounds me that people only seem to watch videos on their computers.
Plays fine on my PC.
Has everyone got FFDshow filters installed?

Most modern TV's will play this off a usb stick/drive too through the usb port in the rear.

I feel dirty for pointing it out tbh, my sincere apologies.

Ghost gave me a green light to share my 'enhancement' with you (as if it needed it be enhanced, it's pretty much perfect!).
To be honest, it was done a while ago, for his TV documentary project as well as this comparison which was made purely to illustrate the differences.
Note: deinterlaced to double fps

I use vlc and it plays fine. Maybe you need a plugin or so?
I think it may be down to my old PC, although it plays 1080p mkv just fine.
Do you know what ''plugins'' I might try?

The solution to your problem, do not try other alternatives (if it didn't already work)
first of all, UNINSTALL other previous codec packs you might have
then install,
K-lite mega codec pack:
http://downloads.ddigest.com/software/download.php?sid=1089&ssid=0&did=5&rid=178216
and AFTER that, install this update to the mega codec pack:
http://downloads.ddigest.com/software/download.php?sid=1089&ssid=0&did=81&rid=178216
that should be it ;)

Sounds like the piano goes as bit silly around 1:42 for a moment, listen from 1:35 - 1:45 and compare it to the released version. There is an extra piano note in there, maybe just a brush off a key? just as they fade in to Freddie on the piano, It's not in the released version.
I hear this extra piano note in most released and televised versions. I thought I was imagining it at first I haven't downloaded this one yet, so the fact you've cited such a problem with this leads me to believe I was right about what I was hearing all these years.

Posted thanks already for the original share but, major kudos again to Chief Mouse for his outstanding work (how can you improve on near perfection...) and again Ghost...., thanks so much for the initial upload.

People i see you have problems about download. So If you want the orginal file, here you have
Thanks to Ghost for sharing this. I will check Chief´s version tomorrow.
The quality of OP is amazing.
The extra piano note is a bad edit made by the studios. This "bad" version was the one they sent to TV´s around the world. I think it was discussed here a while ago that some people spoted this "bad" version on many TV stations around the world, and that means that it was only corrected with the release of Greatest Videos 1 DVD.
