Reels with three minutes long?! This must have been an expensive bootleg to record.[/QUOTE]

Even audio was pricey. Blank cassette tape was pretty expensive, never mind film.

And the reason why most 8mm film is silent is because only the uber-expensive cameras could record audio. 4 of the 8mm of the film are for audio, and the other 4 are for video. Most films just have half an empty space and you can even see it.

Luckily in this case there was another audio source, so they were synched together (and speed corrected quite painstakingly; it's all analog, so the tapes ran at different speeds - imagine how long it must have taken to identify the footage and make it all come together).

Just watched it. Luckily its not complete.

The best part (Keep Yourself Alive) of the actual 8mm master is missing on this version.

Ha! Smart move of the owners of this tape. Wish I've done the same back in the day.

Yeah, luckily us Queen fans can't enjoy the complete video!

Thanks for sharing this, by the way! Being a Dutchie myself makes this share extra special :-)

Be happy with what you got. I don't think you were supposed to enjoy this video in the first place.

My only gripe is that so many people keep transferring their old film/video bootlegs to DVDs... Instead of using the newer and superior codecs like H264, or the coming H265. Or even lossless, like Sikke just did with his tape of the Bohemian Rhapsody video.

I agree on that one.

There is no need to use DVD as a container. MKV can combine so many sources. Best container out there at the moment.

Why are some of you not happy that this is shared?

I do not see the point. According to concert tickets no-one except for the artist is allowed to record a gig ( or the artist has given someone permission).

So if you do something which you are not allowed to, you are allowed to controll something you 'won'but never were allowed to do?

People on Streets > what is your point? Did you pay a lot of money for this film and therefore no-one else is allowed to see this?
