I worked in a big hotel near Peterborough and in the bar with Freddie and all his hangers on and during the evening Roger was smoking Mallbaro reds,Freddie was on Silk cut.Not sure about John he was tucked out of sight ! They were filming the Breakthru Video at Nene valley railway at Stibbington Peterborough.I got to speak wiith Freddie and Roger, i told Roger how i enjoyed Fun In Space and my favourite track was Airheads, he seemed pleased ! Just had a little chat with Freddie and asked if the video was coming along well ,he said they had had a a good laugh and it was done in two days.Freddie was in the Honeymoon suite and security were at his door day and night.

I once shared a smoke with John and that was definitely a Marlboro. The ordinary reds, if memory serves. I was trying to mooch one off him, but it turned out it was his last one. He was not above sharing. I actually felt more comfortable asking him than some unknown fellow fan. Strange moment of total accessibility from the mystery wrapped in an enigma in Queen....

Wherever he is, I hope he's enjoying life to the fullest. Ditching the fags would certainly go a long way in that respect!

UNLESS your body is accustomed to them. Then it may have already been too late to quit. Plenty of smokers incredibly live to old age
