I have been thinking about buying some of the new re-released Queen vinyl records I have been seeing lately. Is the sound better than CD's. Is this just a fad with vinyl's coming back again. Before I start collecting just wanted some input. What players are recommended. I grew up using my parents record player (have no idea what make).
Just wondering,
Caroline
Anyone know what Queen vinyl's are out or can you get hold of most of them.

Just buy decent second hand copies. If in good condition you're basically guaranteed of good sound and they're usually a lot cheaper.

Try searching this forum. There's a lot of information about different versions of albums, remasters, remixes etc.
Just wait , all the vinyls will be rereleased later this year

Better the second hand versions of the first impressions, analogic sound. Not a vinyl with digital sound that, is better, in cd.

Thanks,
Do you think they vinyls will be released slowly or in some sort of set?

If the original recording and the mixing were done in analog, vinyl will definitely give a better result. If the recording is digital and/or it has been mixed digitally, vinyl doesn't add anything except possibly surface noise.

The last set of vinyl rereleases are absolute trash. Do not buy them, complete waste of money. The originals sound much better. In this case, it's not even about a lack of improvement upon the CDs, they did a terrible job cutting the masters, half the albums sound significantly worse than the CDs or original vinyl, even to a non-audiophile such as myself.
As somebody else said, there will almost certainly be a Universal vinyl reissue to capitalise on the vinyl resurgence. The last ones were deleted very fast, and I suspect there is now a fair bit of demand for reissues again.
Especially considering the band knows they did a shit job with the last ones and can have all the die hard fans buy them all over again.

agreed with pingfah... i have 2 of the new ones... innuendo - since i can't trace an original for less than 100$ and news of the world which is my favorite album. I have 4 copies of that album.. 3 of them second hand - the new one is distinctly worse than the second hand ones.
If you want vinyl - i recommend uk originals up to 75 and then go japan 76 and on (if you can afford it!). otherwise 2nd hand will ALWAYS be better than the recent repressings.
any version of remaster is better on CD than the new vinyl pressnigs. they don't sound *bad* but they are clearly not worth the money with all those other cheaper options that significantly sound better.
