I was just watching Save Me video with Roger and Brian commentating through it ( Greatest Hits DVD ) . I have to say for the late 70s early 80s the effects are quite good. I remember A-HA's video for Take on Me in about 1984 ish was good but released later than Save Me.

Yeah, I've always loved that video and really loved the effects.

I think they managed to nail a classy amount of computer-generated stuff without making it look cheesy, given the technology of the time, and integrated it well with the 'normal' parts of the video.

Queen were always at the biting edge of using technology to improve sound and visuals. A Kind of Magic is another good one.

It always surprised me how averse to actually using technological gadgets Freddie was in his private life. I can just imagine him now, having an iPhone 6 but not knowing how to use anything on it, asking Phoebe to show him how Grindr works, only to denounce it as a ridiculous and low-class waste of time.

Lol very true. Brian sure seems to enjoy his gadgets ...and selfie stick. I saw a clip I believe from a video of one of Brian's Solo albums (Star Fleet??) recently ..now that did look very cheesy I had to laugh.

I love the "star fleet" album the guitar work on it is superb, and Brian gets all those chords out that he was not allowed on Queen albums lol
Well After "Hot Space" he just went for it"
Shame Freddie never got to sing Star Fleet!

Well it was Freddie and JD who seemed to be pushing to exclude what much of what BM did from the Queen sound in the early 80's

Was not all bad because Brian had his moments in the 80s like on "Tear it up" "Hammer to Fall" " Friends will be Friends" " One Vision" etc......
Brian was not hard done by was he?
Freddie & John did do the right thing in that they wanted Queen to try new avenues of music, and not just Pure Rock music,
they were a clever band and could play any thing.

The animation for Save Me was done by Cucumber Studios. The track was not a favourite of the rest of the band according to them..... I interviewed them years ago for a dissertation.
