1997, not 2008

See the scan of the letter I posted.
They were produced in 1997 but were not put in circulation at the time and put in storage.
Then in 2008 they were given out at a convention

I believe quite a few TV / Radio Stores received a promotional copy of it back in 1997/98. In my little home town I checked with two different shops, and both got a copy of it.
One of the store owners was also a queen fan, and he refused to sell it. The other one sold it to me :)

Whilst the Flix 1 & " promo DVD is a worthy item in your Queen collection, the pic quality is quite poor and not up to DVD standards, even though they are all in the OAR.

Of course many Queen promo's were shot on film either 16 or 35mm. Film shows a widescreen 16:9 original format. The question is was edited on video yes or no ? If yes then you have very logical explenation the original film is converted to 4:3 video.

What do you mean they're not up to DVD standards? Are you talking about the mastering before putting them on DVD, or the bitrate of the discs themselves?

Yep to both of the above. It just looks like VHS quality to me although I believe it was lifted off the Laserdisk versions (?).
It's a pity cos at least their in the purest form. The pq and audio of the Hits DVD are far superior but as we all know amateurishly authored as regards the aspect ratios.
