Innuendo

Was innuendo a Roger song or a collaboration between the four of them with equal writing. In my opinion Innuendo should be regarded as a Taylor, Mercury track. Fred did a lot musically while roger took over lyrically. What do you think?

If you mean the Song "Innuendo" itself, than it`s a result of a session in Montreux. Bri,John and Roger were jamming while Freddie was in the control room with David, when he heard it he said something like " Oh I love that" and jumped down the stairs to join in. I`am not aware who is responsible for the final lyrics.
Maybe a community work as well.

Innuendo is my favourite Queen song. Such complex arrangements and brilliant mastery. Would have been great to see studio footage a bit like they done with One Vision. Freddie was most likely too ill for that though.

Lyrics were started off by Freddie and completed by Roger. Music was started off by Roger, John and Brian and completed by Freddie. Arrangements were mostly Freddie, Brian and David, possibly (but not necessarily) with some input from Steve for his chromatic runs and stuff.

Studio footage only exist from the Headlong video. The track was recorded in several studios. The footage was shot at the Metropolis Studios in London.

As far as I know that wasn't "real studio footage" per se, but just footage they intentionally filmed of them goofing around in the studio for the Headlong video. It wasn't like One Vision video which actually showed them working in the studio.

The reason this footage was filmed : Queen signed with Hollywood and the DORO were oredered to shoot some footage of the band as a message to Hollywood CEO's. They withheld traveling to the US for signing the contract. Instead they sent out a film recording of the band talking about how honoured tehy were to sign at Hollywood. The remainder material was indeed used in some docu's.


So the reason for this shoot was to satisfy Hollywood records and mask FM his illness.

I think it's interesting that Freddie was cracking jokes at the time. Probably at his own expense. Tough s.o.b.

The only bits I've seen were the ones where it seemed like Brian was delegated to speak for the band. The bit where thephone rings and Freddie says "oh no all that crap again" (dreading a retake)

Suppose there were full interviews?

Out of topic, I remember that some times ago, someone from this forum told that he/she has got the full 45 mins video recording from studio... Later, decided not to sharing because of a little argue... Anybody remember???

Thanks Togg, I've done nothing special, most of my sources are the same ones which have been available to everyone else. The only exception would be a few emails I've exchanged with David Richards, who is sadly no longer with us so nobody else can contact him any more, but on the other hand there are literally thousands of people who've spoken to him way longer and who surely know loads and loads of things I've no idea about.
