Hi everyone! It's time to start with the 2.0 version of ADatR, the second HD Revision. This one has the goal of replacing the first one. It has a more balanced sound, less harsh, less raw and more warm and full. You may not notice any change with the last one, but if you put them together you'll find some major changes.

Here I leave you StL, with the notes of the old version. This one has a stronger snare, warmer vocals, enhanced bass, clearer piano, more understandable guitars, more distinguishable voices in the backing vocals, deeper toms, re-balanced EQ, heavier kick...

Enjoy!

Hey Matt, this sounds amazing. A few things:

I preferred when the choir faded out before the build up part, and I also preferred the longer pause of the original version. Maybe you can do one version that's a bit more true to the original?

There's also a really harsh glitch at about 4:40 into the song.

When you say " It has a more balanced sound, less harsh, less raw and more warm and full" that's all fine and dandy for a song like this, but other songs like Tie Your Mother Down and White Man are meant to sound harsh and raw. Please take this into consideration as well. :)

Happy to read you! Thank you for your comments guys! I'm looking forward to finish it too! I've been working with this one, AKoM, HS and 'Jazz' all together and I'm doing it at fast speed since half of the work is already done.

Dave, I answered in the other post, but as a brief, I can't do it since I don't have the complete album anymore.

I can do an alternative version which is more true to the original for CD 2. That glitch is actually Roger's voice at the very end, but sounds harsh and it's a bit loud. I lowered it, thank you!

And don't worry, Oscar. I have in mind the balance of the sound. When I said that I meant it for the general sound of the album, but here I leave a bit of 'White Man' (with the guitar noise back again lol). It's harsh, punchier and raw than StL. Enjoy!

And here's GOFLB. I've been working a lot with this one. Since the last version I've gave to it a similar treatment like StL, plus a re-cleaned hi-hat, punchier bass at key points, a soft reverb to Freddie's voice, balanced volume between Freddie and Brian at the very beginning, and clipping removed. There's a lot of work even if it's unnoticed.

And with WM, I enhanced the bass, deleted that old radio effect from Freddie's voice, gave a lot of punch to the drums, cleaned the hi-hat, harsher guitars, restored the hiss... I can't remember very well right now.

In a few day's I'll upload TYMD (a completely new mix) and 'Drowse'.

Enjoy!

Wow, White Man is everything I ever wanted it to be! Huge!

GOFLB sounds magnificent as well, though some of Freddies S and T's sound a bit harsh when listening through headphones (decent pair of Sennheisers). But then, I usually listen to Queen on speakers, so it doesn't really matter. :)

re GOFLB.... the pristine quality is simply stunning !!

With regards STL, most of it sounds great, but I agree about the transition from "Someday I'm gonna be free lord...", and there's an untidy cut off to the backing vocals at 1:28, which is there on the stems, but could be repaired. I actually prefer the version on the Hollywood remix where there is a pause before the "Find me..." chanting starts, but something to make the transition seems slightly less 'rushed' would be good, in my opinion.

One other thought - the end is great with the extra bit of Freddie, but how about adding that final piano note from the original, just to finish it nicely without the fade? That would make the ending perfect. :)
Remember to deliver with the speed of light A little bit of love and joy

Thank you guys! I've been working in other songs, and with HS too. I was in the stadium by Friday night seeing Queen live! What a show. I went to the hotel, got a photo with Spike and Neil, but couldn't catch Brian or Roger. I gave Jim Beach a CD with remixes when he was getting in a cab, and a few days ago a mail came thanking me for the CD's. I tought that they will never answer, but that simple mail made my day.

Now, with the songs, yeah, I know that about the S's and T's, but its very common in Freddie, mainly the S's. Songs like 'Bicycle Race' or 'I'm Going Slightly Mad' kill me in that sense. Anyway, I'm happy to know that you liked these few songs guys! This would be the definitive polish... at least until the multitracks are released lol.

Thank you Vali for your kind words and support!

Hi, Fickle! I'm sorry, but I can't find the cut off where you say. You mean that the backing vocals end a bit abruptly? I'm going to do some alternative version with a different ending adding the very last piano note. So I'll check that transition and make it less harsh. You and Oscar are right about that little pause, it's a good idea to extend it! I'll make it a bit longer, but not as the Hollywood Records remix which is a bit excessive.

Bambams, that would be great! It has been a lot of time since I don't hear that revision, but a few songs remained and I don't think that are good at all. I like how the old Jazz Revision sounded trough! But now I could do it so much different. It would be great to re-upload it for those who want it, thank you very much! The mail is c_mattremixes@hotmail.com . And about ADatR, yes, I could improve a bit more some detailed aspects and give it a closer sound to AKoM or QII, more balanced. Thank you!

Thank you Ouhsammy! It's a joy to me too listening this fresh versions and doing them, trough sometimes it can take a lot of time.

And here's 'Drowse':
