Queen (1973)

Their first album, with their true sound. The rock essence, Also features lots of lovely guitar work from Dr.May.

Keep Yourself Alive- 10/10 Electrifying riff that can't be forgotten.

Doing All Right- 10/10 Incredible song. I particuarly like the guitar work . Lyrics are great too, not to forget them lovely harmonies.

Great King Rat- 10/10 Love the funky wah-wah guitar and lyrics are excellent. Mean rock song. Also I like the drums.

My Fairy King- 10/10 Roger Taylor's best song. Love the lyrics, builds up a fantasy in my head.

Liar- 10/10 It's a classic. Love the guitar

The Night Comes Down- 9/10 Lyrics are great and very underrated.

Son & Daughtter- 10/10. A Classic rocker.

Modern Times Rock N Roll- 8.5/10 I think the instrumental work is great.

Jesus- 7.5/10 Christian Rock isn't my thing but I absolutely love that guitar solo.

Seven Seas Of Rhye...- 6/10 I love SSOR but I find this song rather unnecessary.

Great analysis. I know I'm in the minority, but when this album came out I began my lifelong love affair with Queen....
Doing alright .....ahhhhhh ....

It's my second favourite album after Queen II.I find Queen and Queen II present Queen's sound the best .I also like how those albums were too complex and heavy .

My Fairy King - Definitely a Freddie Mercury song.
I just love it.

Agree.

Great song, but not the best version. Something was "lost" when they recorded the album version, even the De Lane Lea demo is better IMHO.

The same thing as in KYA, great song, not a great version. Any live version I heard is better.

I'm not a big fan of this one, I mean it's OK but it feels more like a jam session and not a proper song, don't know why.

Roger has nothing to do with this song. And again, I prefer the BBC "remix".

Great song, but as usually the live versions are much better. And I love the bass :-)

It's a nice song, very "un-Queen" IMHO. Sounds like a 60's pop rock song.

I never liked this one, till I heard the live versions.

I personally love this one, I would give it 10/10.

Never liked this one. It's just boring, nothing else. The demo has at least the "Sabbattesque" part.

Another boring song.

One of the great cultural events of my life British man, 41 years of glorious listening, simply love it, perfect in every way.
Yes, I am a stepford on this one. Gonna put it on now.

After hearing Made in Heaven, my opinion concerning SSOR from Queen I drastically changed. When I hear it, I think not of the beginnings of Queen but of the end of the "Freddie era". Also way back I thought maybe wrongly that they've incorporated the very last guitar chords of SSOR into Father to Son (when the guitar comes in).
