Seriously considering making this my first festival.....
Usually has a decent line up regardless of Queen being on. Hotels and travel already enquired about, and it's a bloody hike from Newcastle!

I was living on the Isle of Wight in 1970 when Hendrix played there. But I was only 6 years old, so was probably at home listening to Humpty Dumpty!

Couldn't give a shite, just got my presale tickets for Jeff Lynn's ELO @ Newcastle arena next april, short of Freddie being resurrected and announcing Queen dates, this is the ultimate gig possible, in my life.
Yeeeessssss!!!

"Queen talk about how they'll prepare for their Isle of Wight Festival set"
Friday, June 10, 2016 9:54pm by London Newsdesk

"Iconic rock band Queen and singer Adam Lambert will perform live this Sunday night at the Isle of Wight Festival and drummer Roger Taylor has revealed they'll give the slot that extra injection of passion.

During an interview with BBC Radio 2's Chris Evans, Taylor explained that he, Brian May and Adam Lambert are very excited for the event and can't wait to bring their show to the 100,000-strong crowd:

"We've been going all round Europe having some incredible shows and we're really looking forward to the Isle of Wight on Sunday, there's an incredible line up actually. It's kind of special. It's the only one in Britain. Of course... The Isle of Wight is part of our history, isn't it? The Isle of Wight Festival is a very special thing [...] it's going to be brilliant."

When asked how he will prepare for the set, Taylor added: "I'm going to get a couple of days good rest after last night, which was a big festival in Sweden, and hopefully bring a good voice and all pumped up for Sunday."

"I drink a bit of whiskey beforehand. I get very quiet before the actual show and noisy afterwards! Then hopefully loud during it... We just get focused really, we've been doing it for so long now. We'll give it that extra frisson of excitement..."

As previously reported, Taylor also opened up about the band's plans for after the event and explained that he will take them back to his house for a curry and some drinks."

They did! On the way out, I heard someone say "The Who turned up and played rock music for 2 hours, Queen played a show," and I think that's a reasonable summary - both for good and ill with respect to both groups.

Loved the show but would have preferred a few more "full versions." Who Wants To Live Forever was epic.

I'd seen 43 Who shows up until 2006. What they are doing now is exactly the same thing they've been doing for 10 years now and really ought to put a stop to it unless it is the SOLE reason for the Teenage Cancer Trust being such a successful brand.

As for Queen - less said about that the better. Your post sums up how memorable it wasn't.......

So you can't give a shite about Brian and Roger touring because it's without Freddie, but Jeff Lynne with Take That's backing band (definitely NOT ELO) is "the ultimate gig possible"?!!
