I've always found Freddie's morbid humour funny (pretty much any morbid humour actually). Especially the last paragraph in his last press release concerning his AIDS-status.

Not really sure what humour you are finding in that. You probably mean that he knew he would be dead the next day but I think he means don't even attempt to contact him or his people as you are wasting your time, regardless of how long he would last....

I agree. There was certainly no humour in that statement.

Folk don't like humor on QZ, I tried last week and was lambasted. Just 'cos I put a few zzzzzzzzzz's in response to a long winded music theory lesson.

I'm not even 100% sure if those particular choice of words were his. He had discussed that statement with Jim Beach a few weeks before he entered his last days, but I'm not sure he chose the particular words himself, he might have just agreed on the gist of what should be said, and then okayed the final message which was not necessarily written by him. I might be wrong, but that's my suspicion.
Also, he was barely conscious in those last couple of days, so I'm not even completely sure that he decided on the timing of when to release the statement. It might have been Jim B who took the decision to release it when they did, given Freddie's impending death.
That said, old Fred did have a very hands-on perfectionist approach to everything, so he might well have come up with the statement himself.

It's quite clear to anyone with half a brain that Freddie & Jim Beach did not compose the statement on the 23rd of November 1991, it was obviously done a few weeks before Fred passed away but held back for some reason until he was near death, most probably to avoid the circus of media and fans gathering outside the house during Fred's final few weeks.

What I am contesting is not if Freddie and Jim composed the statement on the 23rd of November 1991 - I said in my second sentence that they discussed it a few weeks previous to his death, so rather than being a question of having half a brain, and whole brain, or no brain at all, it's more a matter of knowing a widely mentioned piece of information regarding Freddie's last days. The question is if the particular choice of words were Freddie's.

My post was not directed at you.

Nobody claimed the press release was conjured up the day before he died?
As for the humour in the wording/statement; it's clearly a big FU at the British tabloid press/media.

I can see the humour in it. It's dark and slight, but it's there. It made ME grin anyway. :-)

I agree that it might definitely be a tongue in cheek comment from Freddie there. It's impossible to know for sure though.
