Can't quite believe I'm posting here Christmas day but before it slips my mind, is the following common knowledge?
"The soundtrack score was composed and conducted by Henry Mancini, composer of the themes from The Pink Panther and Peter Gunn, with veteran lyricist and screenwriter Leslie Bricusse contributing five original songs. The song "It's Christmas (All Over The World)" was written by Bill House and John Hobbs with Freddie Mercury in mind. While it is known that Mercury recorded a demo for the House/Hobbs song at Pinewood Studios, he was never to make a full commitment to the project, as he and his Queen bandmates had already committed themselves to the Highlander soundtrack. In the end, Mercury turned down the project, stating that he felt that Queen had become overcrowded with requests to work on film soundtracks"

If that demo exists then I suppose Queen or Freddie's estate doesn't have the rights to it ?

Great find!... I had no idea. It has never even come up in the few books I've read about the band.

If that's true, then the band must get hold of it and turn it into a Queen Xmas release :-) they also need to get hold of born to rock n roll too, that could be a cracking Queen track !

Can anybody add to this? I would love to know if there's any truth to it? It surprises me that interesting threads like this get little or no response

No, if no one has any further information then don't post otherwise there are just pages of ridiculous unfounded speculation

"While it is known that Mercury recorded a demo..."
Interesting.
Is it true? Eh, who the hell knows? But I wanted to say it's interesting, so there.
