This is the transfer from my LaserDisc

Well, no.

It's the transfer from your LaserDisc with:

denoiser
sharpening
different resolution
cropping

Why didn't you specify these things to begin with?

Plus it's an official release.

The only way you can get a LaserDisc copy is buying a used one.

Thanks for sharing!
What is the best version of this concert, the LaserDisc or the official dvd "Live In Rio" released in 2013 as part of the Queen live DVD Box Set?
Does everybody know it?

I've got the 2013 DVD and it's good. It should be compared to the raw transfer of the laser disc

I think he is talking about the official DVD from the box set.

I might be wrong, but I think I remember reading the DVD wasn't as good as the laserdisc transfer.

The DVD comes from the same master as the LD.

Does the DVD have the same bitrates as the LD?
· Member since
LD quality is higher than DVD, so a BD transfer should look better.

Uhmmm, if it's a 2hr show squeezed onto a single DVD5 disc, then yes. Otherwise, DVDs are superior

LaserDiscs had analog video. So there's no such thing as bitrate or MPEG codecs

DTS audio bitrates on LD are generally double that of DVD, and there is room for PCM too.

The video is also smoother on LD compared to DVD, no blocky images and jagged edges.

Of course this all changes when we try and convert a LD transfer to a totally digital format.

Perhaps that's why vicman05 felt the need to try and enhance the result.

I Want To Break Free clip which is from youtube channel (May 2015), looks better than this full version. I'm talking about the video quality of course. Not from same source?
