Thanks to the channel 'Rare Queen Vids' for uploading this 40 minutes interview. I downloaded this video and tried to remove the usual YT artifacts and the exaggerated red colour, especially on Freddie's face. Here you have a brief comparison Please let me know what you think about it ;-) Enjoy! https://mega.nz/#!c54klCJS!TCCYgCjYkpH5VwqH-yZCZNAVeQVWwWfepu2aRF_mAfQ

Hmm, I would have chosen slightly different approach. Did you use aWarpSharp() ? It makes the edges sharper, that's true, but also makes the whole image look a bit like painting if you see what I mean. On the other had it doesn't look too much like painting (I've seen a lot worse) so this is a minor complaint. This can sometimes happen, I've probably done it as well although I usually try to avoid warp sharpening. For this video I would have used regular sharpening (although regular sharpening and excessive denoise can also cause it). What more, although you did lower the reds, now in some places it appears more yellow-greeny than it probably should be (arm) and right side of Freddie's face almost turns grey. Also, the whole look is paler than the original (and I would have used some contrast as the original seems pale enough already). There is some chroma noise left (patchy colours) and chroma definitely needs to be shifted (common problem with old tapes).

So there's my two cents. Just don't get discouraged and keep up the good work :)

Here's a quick mock-up of how I would have made it, if it helps. I used the original screenshot you posted. .

Yes, the colours on his hand could be improved, as well as the levels. But how have you managed to achieve such a natural colour on the face?

Years ago I asked the same question to myself. As with all things. practice makes perfect. And trial & error helps greatly :-)
