Just listening to the karaoke version of 'BORN TO LOVE YOU' from MIH and it suddenly occurred to me how much the drumming sounds like Cozy Powell.

Has anyone else noticed this? Was Roger consciously aping Powell's style at BHM's behest?

I totally understand you. I always assumed it was done with computers but the MIH track sounds like an upbeat RAINBOW song, (COMMA) you're right.

It's ahead of and CARRYING the beat. Whereas, RT drives behind it.

The drum fills and rolls in the filter, as well as the EQ settings sound more akin to Cozy as well. It's much "bigger "

There is something about the track that makes you think they were going for a 'lets make this sound not like Queen' vibe. Freddie's is still better though.

Thanks dear Matt, all is clear now. (Excepting predict text)

I certainly think there is a similarity to Cozy's sound there, maybe Brian spent some significant time mixing it to get that effect.

I agree 100%.

My personal biggest gripe with the Queen version is the stupid sampling at the end. The "it's magic" and all that. It totally takes me out of the song and makes it feel like a mishmash of things rather than a band, if you know what I mean. It almost completely kills my enjoyment of an otherwise good retake.
