I have a friend who's brother worked at the BBC in the late 70's.
I have pics of the band arriving and setting up for NOTW sessions. I think T Vance first broadcast them, then J Peel. Can't tell the location and I haven't scanned them.
However, I will NEVER share with G Brookes
Why punish the many for the acts of the few (or in this case, one) ?

Just post the photos here with a little watermark in the corner. Problem solved.

Judging by the covers of the last few live releases, QP doesn't have anyone on board with even a cursory knowledge of Photoshop.

This is probably a good place to revisit a Record Collector article from June 2001 about the BBC sessions, by our own friendly archivist; here's the scans:

Perfectly reasonable criticism right there but the response by GB was childish, rude and didn't touch on the topics mentioned at all. Weak.
He doesn´t have to!
And he could have chosen to say nothing, yet he seems genuinely baffled as to why so many people here respond to him as they do.

For the last 15 or so years, this has been the cycle at QZ:

1) GB says something some people at QZ don't like
2) Those people say "go fuck yourself"
3) GB says "I see your 'go fuck yourself' and I raise you a 'here's a pine cone; let's make this worth while; if a job is worth doing then it's worth doing right; MrQueenFan can grab Brenski by the legs, Wizard can grab him by the arms, I'll insert and twist, and I hope it really hurts'."

It makes for interesting (and even often humourous) reading, but it doesn't actually accomplish anything. People have been trying to change his manner for 15 years with any number of tactics (primarily logic and anger) with absolutely no success. Einstein defined insanity as "engaging in the same behaviour and expecting a different result."

Arguing with him will get you nowhere. He doesn't take criticism well (nor are many of the things he's criticized for actually his fault), so take this into account if you want a reply out of him.

In short: choose your battles.

On the other hand - plenty of people are swallowing their pride and getting genuine answers. Be one of them, otherwise you're not helping those who do want the answers to get them.

Nobody said life was fair. You guys want the information, so play with the hand you're dealt, or you'll get exactly what you were expecting to get.

GB: We've had over 60 useful replies so far. 4 from QZ, the rest from elsewhere.

It's testament to a few people on Queenzone - LIKE YOU - that only a minute handful of people have offered any kind of help. It says a lot about you.

There are more contributing factors.

Places like QOL are heavily moderated, so there is much less criticism towards Queen, their products, and you, leading to a more peaceful dialogue. The official site has a completely different vibe simply because it's the official site. People play nice largely because they don't want to be banned.

But this is an unmoderated forum, so anything goes. Tensions are high here when you arrive, and you contribute to them as much as anyone else. Lumping all users of this site under a single banner of "Moanzone" surely isn't going to get you the result you're hoping for.

Unless, of course, this is the result you're hoping for.

Be the bigger man and leave the insults at the door. Otherwise it's a self fulfilling prophecy and, ultimately, a waste of everyone's time, including yours.

But if you enjoy spending your afternoon tea time having a go at people with absolutely no desirable end result, then all the power to you.

Just don't be surprised if nothing changes here. Be the change you wish to see in the world. And if you are, in a way, representing Queen Productions here, then maybe you can be the one who takes the lead in being level headed, and others may follow. Your 1999 thread was a good start.

Excellent stuff - thanks !

Any chance you could post page 20 again? You accidentally posted one of the pages twice.

ignore this - I put up the wrong scan for the missing page!

This may be interesting though as this is another RC mag piece about Freddie solo tapes where Greg confirmed back in 2000 he has reviewed and archive noted EVERY SINGLE Freddie solo tape in the archive. So anything new to us that we may get this year should be something that has been available and known about internally to QPL/FM Estate for the past 16 years (unless new tapes have been handed in or found in that time).
