To all you that live in jolly old England, here is my challenge to you.
Someone take a picture or little video of John Deacon. You know where he lives, go do this.
Bigger Challenge: Someone go up to him and talk to him, ask him anything and try to put it on a camera phone.
Tell the man we want to talk to him or tell him he is still loved by Queen fans around the world. This is the challenge. Game on

You can't be serious. How would you feel if some annoying fans of yours intruded on your private life? It's one thing seeing a celebrity at some event and asking for an autograph (this is completely ok, as long as you don't hassle them), but it's another thing sneaking up on a person and harassing them to get something on video. It would only serve to make John feel uncomfortable and possibly very irritated, and why would you want someone you respect to feel like that? It's similar to what those vultures did to Freddie when he was dying.
He knows he is loved. If he doesn't browse the net, I'm sure his sons are aware, and they might even have let him know once or twice that he's still mentioned frequently.

If John wanted to participate in public life, he would. What's the point of nagging him with unwarranted photography. I do not care what he looks like right now.

So basically you are challenging people on the internet to become criminals?

No, you British folks must have a tough time with famous people. I live outside of New York City and have been a few sports stars past and present since our basketball and hockey teams, New York Rangers and New York Knicks Practice 5 minutes from where I live. I have talked to many people gotten pictures etc. I have met a few movie stars like Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase and never had any problems. If I lived over in your parts I would try to meet any band member, especially since your country is smaller that ours and thus you can easily try to find them. Tell me what area he lives and I will try to do it.

There's a difference between meeting and stalking. Try to understand the difference.

It's different in Europe than in the States. Americans are generally more open to social interaction from complete strangers. In Europe, it is a lot more conservative, plus there are annoying tabloids hiding in the bushes trying to catch the famous doing bad things. This further puts the famous people off and makes them even more private.

The point is John Deacon is exactly the type of person who you shouldn't go up to and try to take a photo of him. If you happen to see him in the street, it's ok to say "hi John, I'm honoured to meet you..." etc., and then if he's receptive, maybe ask for a photo, and ask if he minds if you shared it online. But that's it. I wouldn't go up to him and harass him.

Well. Any biographer would really try that method. Just walking to the door.

My last tactic was to set fire to his wheelie bin then, when he comes out with a basin of water to extinguish the fire, I throw some questions about Paul Rodgers at him. I then retire to my secret hide up his next door neighbour's tree.

At the risk of repeating myself from another thread
I met JD in 95, an incredibaly shy individual, hated being out in public, hates attention, please if you call yourself a Queen fan leave the man alone and do not go to his house to try to photograph him
respect that he wishes to be out of the public eye,
I bumped into him in London, we spoke, he shook my hand and thanked me for effectively thanking him... nice chap, but clearly almost traumatised at that point so what he's like now I can't imagine, but leave him alone, had I known he was like that at the time I would have simply kept my distance and respected his privacy

^Yes that's exactly why nobody should bother him.

^^ i do agree.
But man i wish i could have relaxed beer with the great man. Asking him if he still plays his bass. And how on earth all that bass on radio gaga came to existence.

I would be interested to know Johns opinions on completely random and stiflingly dull matters other than music. Like the perfect acidity of soil to grow onions.
