^Since you mention that - i.e. that we've become so used to LGBTI etc... which is a good thing I think, mind you, I agree our society should be inclusive and allow everyone the right to live their lives. But, I don't know if it's just me, but sometimes I feel that the very concept of traditional manhood is being eroded. I mean, you get all these straight guys going to the beautician to do their eyebrows and what not. It's like the heterosexual male is gradually converging with the bi/homosexual man to create some sort of metro-sexual materialistic pseudo-man.

Well-built men are now the product of obsessive visits to the gym, and to waxing salons - not the by-product of doing physical work. Even bloody lumberjack beards have been taken over by hipsters with slicked back hair and artist-style glasses. I don't think this is a bad thing, but it's just something which I think about now and then. Rant over.

You have valid points here.

I think the beard thing IS a bad thing, but it's more likely from the brief popularity of bullshit like "DUCK DYNASTY" rather than lumber jacks.

These things go in waves. What's the latest fad where you're from?

Over here in los Angeles I see a lot of women do the black rim glasses (whore cloning as I call it) so as to remain anonymous in spite of their multiple sex partners.

There's also the male thing sticking around with the moustache wax.

And also the female pseudo Mohawk with the sides shaved off (a hairstyle I did as a male in the late 90's)

Has the "chavs" thing died out in the UK or is it still maligning the world? Over here it's called "wigger-ism"

What makes you think the traditional concept of manhood was valid in the first place?

As far as I am concerned it deserves to be eroded as it was meaningless to start with. The concept of rugged, masculine manhood is nothing but a reflection of men's own neuroses. Men aren't naturally rugged, or hard working, or free from vanity. Those are all traits that vary from person to person, regardless of gender, so the idea that they should all feed into some notion of masculinity is complete bollocks.

Might well be. Of course he will be known as "008" in reference to his (former) string gauge.
