Sure, he doesn't have a frontman's demeanour. But this is what happens when you were in a band with Freddie Mercury. He can't go out there with a schtick. By just going out there and playing songs without much fanfare he avoids the comparisons.
Also because of Freddie Mercury, nothing you do will be seen with public interest in the same way that a dozen songs from the glory years are. Nobody looks at you with a fresh set of eyes.
But without that history, would anyone have known who he is to begin with?
