in conversation she sounds like a cockney British hooker. on stage she copied 60's soul and it's counterpart in Spain. I think she's horribly overrated but it's sad that she acted the role that consumed her. some would say it's no different than pop stars of the sixties who didn't write their own music
but Winehouse was imitating an era. She was heavily marketed for copying a style. woop dee doo
That said. She had a great singing voice. dying at 27 helped her career, and GENERALLY : when a singer who doesn't play instruments is put down as a "CO- songwriter: it usually means they "wrote the lyrics"

She had an exceptional voice. She was an addict who was exploited by her boyfriend and her dad. She is more to be pitied than mocked or degraded. Like many addicts, she died well before her time.
