1979-01-29 &
1979-01-30 Rotterdam, Ahoy (Professional Recording)
The soundcheck and an interview were filmed on the first night, fragmentary live footage from both nights was broadcasted on Dutch TV. Different Bits were also used in the Japanese "Jewels" TV Documentary.
Are you sure it's a mix of both nights?
1979-02-27 Paris, Pavillon de Paris 1st Night
1979-02-28 Paris 2st Night
1979-03-01 Paris 3rd Night
* Pro Shots of all three shows were made

* Nearly everything of the other shows is floating around in varying quality
* Portions of the other shows can be seen in the bootleg cut, "The Champions",
"Champions of the World" and "Rare Live"
And different songs from all 3 nights were shown on various UK convention. I hope that means a Live Killers type box set one day.
Great job !

1964-09-xx Isleworth Polytechnic College
- Young Freddie, private 8mm film, roughly one minute in "The Great Pretender" doc

1969-02-27 Royal Albert Hall
- Silent B/W Footage of Smile Concert filmed by Douglas Puddifoot, bits have appeared in several documentaries

1973-07-24 (air date) The Old Grey Whistle Test
- Montage to "Keep Yourself Alive", using a cartoon from President Roosevelt's 1932 Whistle Stop Campaign. NOT the footage used in Magic Years etc (see 1978-10-30). Lost?
Source? Of the claim that it's different from the Dead on Time montage. Also, a few seconds of a cartoon train were shown in a documentary claiming it's from this montage (again with no proof).
1974-02-21 Top Of The Pops, Seven Seas Of Rhye
- First performance, without Audience. Widely available as a bootleg in slightly incomplete form.

1974-03-14 Top Of The Pops, Seven Seas Of Rhye
- Second performance, with Audience. Widely available as a bootleg in nearly complete form.
Are you sure about the dates? Didn't GT claim years ago they're all wrong? Also, I was under the impression that the available footage is complete.
1974-03-31 Rainbow Theatre, London (10 min Pro-Shot)
- "Son & Daughter" & "Modern Times Rock n Roll" with overdubbed vocals. Send out as promotional films mainly for Japan, but also televised on TV channels throughout Europe.
- Issued on "Live at the Rainbow 74" DVD/BluRay in 2014 with original sound.
Maybe it's worth noting that a MUCH better copy exists in BBC archives, it was used years before the official release in a documentary
1975-01-30 Top Of The Pops, Now I'm Here
- exists????
Well. it was shown on the 2011 exhibition, so ...
1975-05-01 Tokyo, Nippon Budokan Hall (Pro Shot)
a) 20 minute documentary with Press Conference, Tea Ceremony (filmed before the show in late April) and 3 full songs
b) 4 additional minutes of cut performances (SIS exhibition)
--> 5 seconds in ex quality seen in "Killer Queen" Documentary
b) is a part of a)
1976-09-18 London, Hyde Park
- Complete Pro Shot Show (81 min)
-> "Sweet Lady" (Broadcasted on the Old Grey Whistle Test (see 1976-12-16), The Midnight Special (US Television 1977) and released on A Night at the Opera DVD)
- Pro Shot Show - single wide angle (full show exists?)
- Silent outtakes and pre-concert footage filmed with an 8mm camera.
Now wait a moment. There are 2 or 3 audience 8mm shot, but they're all from the concert, not pre-concert footage (OK, one contains clips from also other bands before Queen). So if you are talking about the "standard" pre-concert footage, what's the source for the 8mm claim if I can ask?
KYA OGWT montage: https://vimeo.com/45455305
This appears to be the real thing, can anyone tell me from which documentary this comes? This is merely a guess, but doesn't it seem strange using such a loony and confusing video montage for a political campaign in the 30s? I think that DoRo messed it up in 1987.

SSOR TOTP: I'd be happy to correct those dates if someone can come up with the accurate ones. Also it's never pointed out if it's the date of the filming or the broadcast.

NIH TOTP: The bit that has been made available is apparently from January 16, 1975. There are claims of yet another TOTP performance of the song, but that might be just a mix-up with the performance filmed for Granada's 45.

HYDE PARK: That's interesting. Can you provide me details or maybe even some screenshots I've read that there one or possibly even more 8mm reels of the Hyde Park, but all I ever found was the silent 15 minute pre-concert reel, so I assumed that that was said 8mm footage. Is there more? Like amateur footage of the Queen set or the other bands? Amazing!

I should have pointed out that those excerpts have only partial and brief alternate angles. The video for "Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy" on the US Greatest Hits has some shots not present in the common bootleg cut. I thought the same about "Brighton Rock" in the 1995 Queen Phenomenon Doc, but upon viewing it again, most edits seem to come from other songs of that night.

I'm not sure about a lot of this, I haven't been there. This is what the fantastic queenlive.ca has to say, although The Real Wizard said something else a few posts earlier:

"Bits of soundcheck footage were broadcast on TV in 1979. Some brief segments of the fast We Will Rock You, Let Me Entertain You, and You're My Best Friend (dubbed with the studio version of Don't Stop Me Now) were seen as well. It is worth noting that this concert footage may be from the second night in Rotterdam. Freddie is seen with sunglasses during the first song, but an 8mm film captured from the audience reveals he didn't have sunglasses on when he made his initial entrance. It is possible that the band weren't happy with the quality of the footage from the first night (see below) and asked the crew to come back on the second night."

Some of those shots may be taken from the 2nd night if not alternative shots of the 1st night. To quote queenlive.ca:

"A mish-mash of footage from both nights at Earls Court was done for Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy on the 1992 US Greatest Hits VHS release... The footage was synced to the studio version. From the second night, there are shots of Freddie singing and playing piano on the first two verses of the song, as well as a snippet of him doing his champagne toast to the audience. "

Seems plausible but are you sure about this? One thing that I find odd is Brian talking about the recording of the Flash Gordon album which took place between October and November 1980. Also John's hair is a tad shaggier than in the photos of the shows at the Forum. I would place them sometime prior if not during the South America shows in early 1981.

Of course there is a very slight chance that the 8mm filmer could have been there both nights. The song in question (WWRY fast) is filmed from a slightly different angle, and there's one vocal ad lib right before the first verse that doesn't seem to match up. But from Somebody To Love onward it certainly is all from the first night. Or at least, there are a ton of sections that sync up to the audience audio to perfection.

Stranger things have happened...

The pro footage is definitely from the first night - no question about that.

One of these bizarre mysteries.
