Has anyone got this picture without the sphere effect?

It's on the back of the book 'Queen A Magic Tour' in better quality (with the effect).
I don't think there's a picture without this effect. It's an analogue picture taken with a fish eye lense.

There's a good quality version on Facebook:

I agree that it's almost certainly using a fish-eye lens.

Wouldn't it be easier to stretch it digitally using some image processing software? Did you try it? I've done something like that some time ago with a video in PFClean, it looked weird during motion, but for a static image something like that could work pretty well
This is a quick test just using lens correction in PS. It's not very easy to eliminate of an unknown lens though. The usual problem with "de-fishing" is that the images get quite stretched at the edges, because a normal thin lens would need an extremely short focal length to cover a fisheyes field of view.

The problem with warping it manually is that the pixels towards the edges will be stretched up to the size of those in the center, and look streched and loose depth.
It's also almost impossible to get straight lines straight again.
Anyway it's Here if you want it:https://s17.postimg.org/f8mc8fpov/fisheye_manual.jpg

Here's my attempt . Edit - I should redo it, given I worked with a lower resolution image. Oscar's is much better resolution.

Nice one Mouse!

Thanks! Can you share an untouched version of this in high res? Would be appreciated.
