Now that we have the BBC tracks, so as to make for a good sounding CDR

(there's a bit of fun with this, but it is MY version after all)

Innuendo * (WWRY soundtrack..not available at the time, but is a good intro)
We Will Rock You [BBC slow]
We Will Rock You [BBC fast]
Tie Your Mother Down
I Want It All
I Can't Live With You
No-One But You
Keep Yourself Alive [Long-lost Retake]
Modern Times Rock 'n' Roll [BBC Session 4]
Flick Of The Wrist [45]
Stone Cold Crazy
I'm In Love With My Car [Rocks]
Feeling Feelings
It's Late
Need Your Loving Tonight
Put Out The Fire
Tear It Up
Princes Of The Universe [demo]
Ride The Wild Wind
Now I'm Here [Concert For the People of Kampuchea]
The Hero ['original' movie trailer]

to think they could have had the printed parts..'from the upcoming BBC sessions, to be released on....'....from the remixed studio album(s), to be released...' all with a finite date during the first decade of this century at the latest. IT would have worked a tad better than the original, doncha think?

Sorry, but I don't think so. I'd rather have the BBC sessions all in one place, not a couple of tracks here and there. A couple of unheard live versions of the tracks from original CD could work plus a remix and NOBY and that's about it. "Rocks" was a mass release, so there's no way you could mess with the tracklisting too much.

I'm still surprised the remix of Tie Your Mother Down which was apparently done for inclusion on the Rocks-album has never appeared anywhere.

I without doubt think that a re-release is in call for at some point down the line that would extend it to be a two c.d. set just like its counter part "QUEEN Forever!".

Can you tell us more about this remix of "Tie Your Mother Down"?

No, it was listed in the initial tracklist which was posted on the fanclubwebsite in august/september 1997. I think the rest of the tracklist was pretty much the same (except for NOBY, which was only added in late October I think).

Pim, not only a remixed version of Tie Your Mother Down, Hannie from the Dutch Fanclub had a recorded message, which clearly stated a mixed version of TYMD but also a 'Rock" remixed version of Hammer Tof Fall. In those days I always thought that it would be an edited version of the Headbangers mix. So it appears that we have two remixes as unreleased.

Well, of course, so would have I.

My point was.....imagine it was 1997, and Queen 'Rocks' was going to be released. The songs I listed (plus or minus one or two) would have been part of the inner sleeve and PR. (ext 'Hammer To Fall', 'I Go Crazy', etc).

It would have served the fan base, made better sales, and...had the promises been kept later on (ie BBC releases in an 'upcoming soon release'), certainly would not have p*ssed off the faithful fan base.

That was a crap track listing for Queen Rocks, I can't live with you was pop Rock, No One But You should have been saved for another release, it was a ballad. Put out the fire and tear it up was some of Brian's weakest songs. The songs that should of been included are endless. They had so many great Rockers.

There were some crazy compilation around that time - Bowie 69-74 was one of them. I was like EH?

I'm sure I posted this in the thread earlier but it seems not. Brian himself said that if people wanted to listen to the heavy side of Queen, He'd prefer then to stick on Queen II

Great, my whole fucking post nowhere to be found in the entry above...

Anyway, meant to say I did imagine it was 1997 and I still don't think tweaking the tracklist would have made any difference in terms of sales or fan satisfaction. 2 or 3 BBC tracks thrown in on a "Rocks" compilation would still piss the fans off and lesser known tracks would not generate bigger sales, as the hard core fan base is too small. Obviously, I would appreciate more extras there, but the truth is the album was just as unnecessary as its companion "Forever" or cash grab "Absolute Greatest". Like someone mentioned above, they should have held on to NOBY until 2001 for example and release it before 10th anniversary of Freddie's death and follow it then with "Greatest Hits 3" and that could have worked quite nicely.
