Whereabouts do the LPs in the 'The Complete Works' box set sit quality-wise? These never seem to get discussed in any of the discussions about different editions - are they simply exact copies of the original vinyl presses and represses up to that point, without any remastering or other 'touch ups'?[/QUOTE]
^^ this I´m curious. I think I´ve never played any disc of my set !!
And what about those EMI reissues released in batches ... was that in 2008 ? what do you think of their quality?

The EMI reissues were TERRIBLE. As were the Hollywood Records editions, which I believe were just exactly the same. I have the UK & the US reissue of Queen, and it is one of the worst LPs I have ever heard, and they both sound the same. I am not an expert at ALL, but even to me it was obvious it was a total botched job.
It is my understanding they used the original CD Remasters, and did no further work, just cut them for vinyl and shat them out on the shelves. End of.
Nice covers though.
^^thanks for the feedback Pingfah
I have most of the original UK pressings and other intl. releases, plus The Complete Works and some of those EMI reissues (barely played and did not remember their sound quality).
Didn´t bother with the Studio Collection box, but will eventually get QII, Innuendo and MIH sooner or later.
