It is vitally important to the well-being of everyone on this forum that you talk a considerably larger load of old bollocks **right here on QZ**.

Well that just made my day.

Your Freddie diaries remain legendary.

Be well, old chum.

Nice to hear from you Fatty

QZ needs a distraction from the trinity of one troll ponies that infest this site.

Queenzone...2018 Revisited

I joined Queenzone in 1997. I am no longer an active poster, but I do take a peek a couple of times a year. I remember the name Sergei, and I keep up several Zoners on Facebook. Nice to see Fatty here! :-)

Yes! Sergei, I remember you! I had a different name back then - thebambinoweeps. I doubt anyone else remembers me as well, as I was quite late to the game.

I think 2006-2009 was when I was on here the most... I'm still connected to a few of you lovely folks on Facebook but not much else has been going on.

Chatting on MSN with you guys was a great time in my life, for real. At that time I was still a sophomore in high school. Moved to the US for Uni. Once college came I thin I just stopped posting altogether. Was busy trying to pass Calculus and Organic Chemistry, nbd. Survived uni and got a Chemistry degree, now living in Tokyo. Musically, Queen is still my favorite band, but the music I listen to nowadays is quite varied now (any The Vaccines/Superorganism/Unknown Mortal Orchestra fans out there?)

TBH I only thought of checking back on QZ to see if people were talking about the new movie, and I assumed that it would mostly be new people on here. But it's great to hear from all you lovely people again. I miss being on QZ sometimes.

Y'all have a good day!

Greetings to all qz:ers of the past and present.

I often think that I spent way too much time on this noticeboard and in the chatroom as a young man, after all, I was in my "prime". But in all honesty, it was probably a lifeline for someone as messed up as I was (and still am). In hindsight, I do think the way I and others behaved towards newbie posters was appalling and unnecessary. Then again, we were pretty friendly compared to modern image boards and meme culture.

Strangely enough, I have fond memories of this place, which is why I still visit the site. This used to be the place where we looked in horror as George W. Bush took office, there were no Russian troll factories to spam this place (just TED, and later Jake and others), we took great pride in having minimal amounts of moderation in our conversations. We used to troll Queenonline with weird accounts (okay, maybe not "we", just "I" then). The chatroom was very active, and it was a fun, bizarre place with some of the most dynamic conversations (no, actually were all just idle for hours) you could ever imagine. That's what I enjoyed the most, IRC chats. Anyone could pop in, strangers talking to strangers, online encounters of the best and worst kind. It wasn't just people on your friends list.

The greatest (and also the absolute worst) thing about this site is that its my longest digital fingerprint online. Sometimes I wish I still had all my old chat logs, so I could revisit my own activities at that period of my life, I don't know why, but I'm sure it would be at the same time extremely interesting and highly embarrassing.

I don't know how to quote posts anymore, but re: Freya's post on the first page, unfortunately the reason I thought about QZ again and am back on here looking at this thread is because it took me ages to learn about Jon's passing. We were Facebook friends, but I just assumed the Facebook algorithm kicked all his posts to the bottom of my newsfeed because we didn't interact too much – wasn't until I went right to his page to see if he'd shared any thoughts on the Bohemian Rhapsody film that I finally saw. Thanks, Facebook, for keeping me in the loop with the really important shit. The situation sort of lends a totally unintentional darkness to what I named this thread in April 2017. Still, I'm glad to see some familiar names on here.
