I've been experiencing a bit of nostalgia lately, and have been listening (on Youtube) to a group I saw live a few times when I was in college (before you all were born). I must have given their records to my brother. I think long long ago I gave him all my vinyl records!

They played in clubs on the East Coast (of USA) and toured as backup with Hall and Oates but they never became "famous". First they were called McDonnell, then changed their name to either States or The States. They have some catchy songs (sort of sound a little like a boppier version of The Cars).

In case you want to sing along:

I remember I was "Mr. Cool"
And I thought you were just a hot little fool
It was then you put your heat in me
Now I'm not what I used to be

And my heart's on fire
And it's burning me up
[Burning me up]
[Burning me up]
My heart's on fire
And it's burning me up
[Burning me up]
[Burning me]

This kind of feeling, I can do without
You got it goin'; now you put it out
I thought I told you not to play with that
Will you keep turning up my thermostat

And my heart's on fire
And it's burning me up
[Burning me up]
[Burning me up]
My heart's on fire
And it's burning me up
[Burning me up]
[Burning me]
Burn me up!

(Guitar solo)

It was then you put your heat in me
Now there's smoke where I used to be
I'm burning up
And my heart's on fire
And it's burning me, burning me, burning me up

My heart's on fire
And it's burning me up
[Burning me up]
[Burning me up]
My heart's on fire
And it's burning me up
[Burning me up]
[Burning me]

My heart's on fire
And it's burning me up
[Burning me up]
[Burning me up]
My heart's ....
