God Save The Queen Notes: I attended the show prior to this (Auburn Hills) and got busted at the gate for the recording device (increased security and user error). Thankfully I just had to return the device to the car. It was a great show overall, but it’s a shame I couldn’t record it. On this show, I tried a different approach to get the recorder in and it worked! I knew I had to make up for my blunder, so I did my best to get the best sound quality. The Roland R05 was pointing up at the house speakers and I set the volume slightly lower than usual to ensure that I got a clean recording. The sound quality is excellent overall but due to a mix of security/ushers going through the area (possible concert-goer drama) and me having to use the restroom after drinking, I set the recorder inside a cup holder and covered it with a shirt during “I Want To Break Free.” The sound is slightly more muffled on that song, but it’s still good. That’s the only song with that muffled effect. Out of the (to date) five Queen + AL shows I’ve attended, this was the best one of all! I will attend more shows when they next tour! Thanks for the recording! What did you do the second time to get your recorder in? I'm surprised they made you return your recorder at the first show. I find these days it's pretty easy to get recorders in as there are so many digital devices..phones, cameras, etc that they don't even care or know what's what. They really only seem concerned if you have weapons (or are bringing in your own water! lol)....I've been recording shows for close to thirty years and back in the day I'd have to put tape decks down my pants, put tapes in my socks, etc..99% of the time I got through but there were a couple of times I had to leave the deck with security or had to shut my deck off during the show/give the batteries away. So silly.

I saw Queen and Lambert last night at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, NY and they have metal detectors, so I just put my digital recorder, my mini disc recorder, digital camera and keys in the plastic bin and they just moved it along and gave it back to me once I was through the detector.

Funny how times have changed in that regard.

What is it with people going to concerts and then HAVING to drink?
Usually that means they end up going to the toilet as well and that REALLY pisses me off when they're constantly getting up and down in front of me.
Sit the "F" down and watch the damn show you've paid a huge amount of money for!

Kamenliter: Happy to answer! I had the recorder in my sock at the Auburn Hills venue. The metal detector somehow got it! First time it happened! When I went to the Cleveland venue, I changed approach (with some advice from other person). I originally planned on putting the recorder in a case and stuffing it in my crotch (padded with 3 pairs of boxers), but I ended up simply putting the recorder and case through a plastic bin/chute (along with my phone and keys). Had no issues at all. I tell you - after the failure at the Auburn Hills show, I was a nervous wreck and drank a bit before the show to calm my nerves. Thankfully, everything turned out A-OK!
