He didn't outright say it. I don't have the interview here so I'll try to paraphrase to get the idea:
INT: Is this the last time around?
RT: You never know....it might be - we're not getting younger....but I'm certainly not announcing or marketing the tour that way...

UPDATE (3 Oct):
It looks as though the negotiations have fallen through. The internal resistance of those involved with Queen Productions Ltd. seems to have overruled the arguments for the restructuring. Adam's ambivalence also likely played a role in crushing final talks. As for John Deacon's involvement in these talks, I have no idea what part, if any, he may have played.
Updates to come whenever possible. Also to clarify... I have no professional or legal associations with the band, production companies or record labels.

Is this implying that AL was to be restructured as to be an equal partner in the entity known as QUEEN?
even sharing revenue from past albums, merchandise?
Or am I just thinking of the worst possible scenario?

This is still just a rumor.
Perhaps somebody will be upset that I will say it again, but to me Queen=Freddie,John,Brian and Roger.
They will decide what will be best for them (in every sense) and they will not make a decision based on whether the fans like something or not.

UPDATE (5 Oct):
I can now confirm with my source that there have been no changes to either the official lineup of the band or the restructuring of assets of the plc. The way I understood it from my correspondence, Brian and Roger considered surrendering a percentage of their individual shares with no changes to the assets held by the estate of Freddie Mercury under two accounts (Mercury Songs Ltd and Goose Productions). Adam would have had a controlling stake under this arrangement - including revenue sharing and merchandise earnings reaped as a full member of the group, as was written here - effective the next fiscal year.
If there are alterations to the agreement, the regularly updated documents on the Company House website should reveal them.

Pitiful that this was even considered. Imagine Lambert receiving a single cent for the Queen's studio work without a single second of his own input. He has better restraint than Brian and Roger, I'm afraid. Ironically maybe that in itself is worthy of him being a 'gift from God'.
