Queen Theatre Makers

Hi All,

Apologies for initial blank posts! Also please go easy on me - I've been a long time reader-but-non-poster here and I do realise that it's pretty easy to get quite a battering posting on Queenzone... So here goes...

Myself & another theatre maker after some years of making & performing other people's theatre, decided last year we were going to make our own work.

Both loving the theatre of Queen & their music, as with writing in general, it's best to make according to what you know. So this started with a one man solo show that tied-in with Brian's interviews & text about his mental health & tied in with my own life story. BUT of course we didn't want to make it depressing - the work is called 'Flash' and here's a couple of trailers:

Next we teamed up with an awesome Australian comedian (no mean feat as we're both Cardiff based) to begin work on our two person show, with Tori in the mix rather than an outside eye. So thus including her background from West End & ballet. We've only just completed our Arts Council Wales funded research & development phase, but our first preview video of us in the rehearsal room making our Queen based piece is online at both our Twitter & Facebook pages.

Please feel free to visit - I hope it's of interest to Queenzone. It's fringe theatre, so the more anarchic side of theatre (just a heads-up for those who rathe mainstream theatre - this is not that sorry). The involvement of the stories and music of Queen amongst our pieces is generally with references & actions that only the 'nerdy fan' (which of course we both are) will notice & understand - hopefully those of you in Queenzone will notice them. Interesting. I was expecting (hoping for) something a bit Rocky Horror, but that seemed the sort of thing that would get nice chin stroking Edinburgh Fringe reviews.

Hi dysan - ha ha we'd love a chin-stroking Edinburgh review! Well the second development (the R&D video on Twitter & Book page) is intended to have as much overblown camp as possible (going from Brian's: "We used to say 'blind'em and deafen'em and leave them wanting more"). Also we couldn't hope for a better opening under-score than 'The Dark' from Brian's BTTL. But of course not to go into boring Arts Council application bumpf - budgets are dwindling so much for independent theatre makers - so it may take us a while & a few more lengthy applications before we can implement the full Rocky Horror style (we really appreciate your view on it - we love Rocky Horror too - and great that you've put that in our minds as we go forward).
