There are countless Freddie-memes with this text:
"We are in a golden age of music. There will be a time when technology becomes so advanced that we'll rely on it to make music rather than raw talent...and music will lose its soul."
- Freddie Mercury
Did he ever say this?
.
It's everywhere. You can buy it on posters and printed on canvas. It's even quoted in some newsarticles. People think he actually said it. Where is it coming from?
If yes, does anyone have a source?
DISCLAIMER: The poster doesn't necessarily "believe" in "memes", nor does he condone the use of memes in any way. However: When a certain "meme" contains a quote by someone, the poster would like to know if said quote has been uttered by the person in question. In this case the poster asks a board of self-proclaimed experts, after an healthy amount of research done by poster of course.

Well, either the most wise posters on this forum answer you or we must search for ourselves.... or ask Phoebe if his blog is alive and well.

Doesn't sound like Mr Mercury.
Since your source is a meme. ....u know. ....there are people becoming retarded from those. ....just sourcing a meme itself says a lot.
Same thing happened to George Carlin in his lifetime and thankfully he was able to refute those that were not.

I don't know if Freddie said this, but there is truth in that statement.

Freddie predicted the future of music in some Queen songs with lines like "there's only One Direction"

To be honest it sounds more like a David Bowie quote.

I'm sure "Freddy" didn't say that. Another fake meme like the one saying he did the whole of The Show Must Go On in one take.

Isn't Brian too blame for that one? :D

People keep saying that Brian said that Freddie did the vocals in one take. I've asked many times but no-one has been able to come up with a source confirming Brian actually said that. On the other hand, on the bonus footage of DOOL documentary Brian talks about Freddie taking vodka and doing the high line "on with the show". The fact that he did that line separately already means he didn't do the vocals in one take.
