This is the one that got me started with this band 40 years ago!!! Been hooked ever since!

It was the first one with 'filler' after 5 pieces of perfection.

I agree Moog, I think it was the last album in the so called classic queen era, after so many quotes from Brian stating Queen were an albums band they seemed to switch focus after NOTW.

Nonsense Moog.....Queen2, one of Queens best albums had a song worse than anything on Notw. The song is loser in the end. Didn't fit the album at all. The great SHA had She Makes Me. I'll take the weakest track on News over that one. News Of The World has aged well. Every song is at least decent. Even the weaker songs I like. While it's not my favorite, It's still one of their best. Top 5 or 6 depending on my mood for me. They were still an albums band until after The Game. The 80's they were a singles band I must admit.

Well there is no right or wrong, I love Loser in the End. Get Down Make Love is atrocious. My dad's bigger than your dad etc....

IMO I thought ADATR was the first to be considered weaker. I think the placing and unnecessary length of YTMBA overshadows the vibe on that record and it's not onw I listen to much - but obviously it has some of my all time faves.

Then again, JAZZ has loads of rubbish on it, but as a whole it's one of my faves.

I consider All Dead to be a skipper on NOTW - again, it's placing ruins the album for me. Stops the side 1 fun (all) dead.

Just some recollections. Just after my 17th birthday, I clearly remember placing the needle on the disk. I'd had heard rock you and champions before, still I was intrigued by Brian's 'moan' as it started. Then, Sheer Heart Attack just blew me away. I played it again, and again. Obviously the lyrics did the trick for me but it was also the energy. Fight From the Inside has this slow groove, reminding me of Bowie's dabblings in plastic soul. Turn the record over and...WTF? Mooghead is perfectly entitled to his opinion, but I loved it. Freddie took his piano licks to another world and the band responded beautifully. Deaky's pops and slides, Roger's stabs on the roto toms and drum bursts, while Brian coaxed all the weird noises from his guitar. It was weird, bold, left of field and anything but 'soft'. I could go on about the rest of the album but so could many of you. Happy memories.

So weird to think that when I got the album (my first with my own money) it was only about 7 years old and back then that seemed like forever. Now it's 40. Woah.

I was only aware of WWRY and WATC (I only had GH1 and the debut (taped for me for 50p by my brother's friend) but to a kid of 8 the cover was the big selling point. Really really happy memoires.

Get Down Make Love is pretty good, not an all time favorite of mine but still good. I know Trent Renzor and Slash/ Talyor Hawkins were fans of the song, and whenever it's reviewed by a music critic they say it's one of the high points of the album, so it did have It's share of fans. Of course that doesn't mean you have too like it. We all know music is Subjective.......A Day At The Races is a work of Art...not a bad song on it.

Like all of NOTW except Who Needs You. Great guitar work from Brian and John but the song itself is utter shit. In fact i'd so far as to say it is shit bordering on wank.

But wanking is fun and WNY is fun too.

All Dead All Dead is like being moaned at by an Aunt you don't like.

Love all their 70s albums ,NOTW was great. Great vibe!

Me too....Jazz had the most filler of the 70's. But I still like it a lot.
