Hi, I identify as a genderfluid woman.
I'm currently doing a research paper for my college in Gender Studies. I've being studying Freddie's sexuality and starting to question whether Freddie would identify as a non-binary man who would potentially have a sex change.
At the start, I feel sorry for Freddie since his gender was assigned by a doctor at birth and not taking his feelings into consideration. In school, he was apparently very effeminate for a guy which suggests his signs of wanting to be a transgender.
I think it is wrong that no one educated Freddie with his perceived gender because he may of being happier this way because his self-awareness was at a all-time low especially with his pronouns due to him growing up in India.
Further evidence of his non-binary and transgender ways is in the music video 'I Want To Break Free'. He dresses up as a woman which is concrete evidence that Freddie was insecure about his gender and wanting to break free from his assigned gender to come out as a transgender and non-binary female. However, his bandmates would arrogantly avoid education on gender studies because they were bullies and complete idiots.
Also just because the bass player has a degree in Astrophysics doesn't make him a intelligent human, I consider the gender studies degree i'm studying right now to be supreme and magnificent.
In the end, when Freddie purposely contracted AIDs. He was experimenting with his gender to act as the woman during sexual intercourse because he was unhappy with his life due to the doctor assigning him as a male.
In conclusion, Freddie would've use pronouns being (she, her) and identified as a transgender and/or non binary.
Im going slightly Mad...it finally Happened
I disagree with this theory.
I think Freddie was aware of himself and what he wanted.
He was a man who loved other men, emotionally and physically.
I don't think he wanted to be a woman, far from it.
That video(I Want To Break Free) is just a video, I don't know why some people always mention that video when they want to prove something about Freddie's sexuality. He didn't write this song, nor was his idea for a video.
what the fuck did I just read?
Why the fuck is everyone so negative. No, it's not a theory, it's a well studied research project which will give me the grade I need to obtain my degree.
It's offensive that you would deny my research since i'm a woman.
Hello LR1,
Freddie in his circle of friends (one of whom is posting on this forum) never identified as anything other than a gay man. In the 1970s people were aware of gender-fluidity, but it didn't mean quite the same thing as it does now except to a very small circle of people.
Being effeminate and being transgender are not the same things. In fact I know a transgender woman who when presenting as a man was anything but effeminate. While some or even the majority of trans women may present as effeminate before they transition, it's not necessarily the case that they will do so.
The video for "I want to break free" has nothing to do with being transgender, and it is the very old British humour of dragging up. It is something that goes back centuries. Now, of course, drag in the early days (and by early days I mean 18th Century) probably has a few connotations. One of them is most probably gender fluidity before people in general realised it was a reality. There are many other factors involved though, you should research that before assigning it to one particular aspect of a person's life.
Most importantly about Break Free, the drag idea came from Roger Taylor, not from Freddie Mercury. To call the other three members of Queen bullies and complete idiots is not good research. You don't know if you are right, you've never met them, and what you know about them comes from the media. There is no evidence of them being complete idiots. There is plenty evidence of them being cis-gender heterosexual white men. That does not make them complete idiots.
It is not the bass-player who has a degree in Astrophysics, it is the guitar player, Brian May, and while it doesn't make him the most intelligent person in the world, he at least knows how to research a subject in a non-biased way, using properly researched and reviewed evidence, and not merely relying on his feelings about the subject which he researches. He has something called a PhD, a Doctor of Philosophy, and in order for that to have been awarded, he must first present the scientific evidence to back up his point. Granted it doesn't always manifest when he shoots from the hip on instagram.... (although I'd have been pretty pissed off if I was him with his latest rant, I think on reflection it was probably justified, although tactlessly applied).
Now, you've suggested Freddie purposely contracted AIDS. There are several reasons why this is incorrect. Firstly, nobody, not even Freddie, knew when he contracted the virus. It is highly likely he contracted the virus before the medical community knew the virus existed. We can't be sure of that, but what we do know is that Freddie tested positive during a very early test. Some in his close circle say they realised things were not right with Freddie as far back as the Live Aid concert of 1985. It is also known that Freddie did not want to die, he did not want to talk about death and dying, he wanted to live and he wanted to make music until he couldn't go on. He made the odd flippant comment about not getting old, but that was in interviews conducted after he was infected, and I feel personally that it was in part, his own way of coming to terms with what had happened.
That you think Freddie deliberately infected himself carries serious implications against his character - because it carries with it that he got himself infected and deliberately spread the virus to others.
You need to research gay male sexuality before assuming that the sexually passive partner in a relationship is sexually passive because they identify as female. You also presume that he was only ever the passive partner, and you therefore state that you know what his bedroom habits were in every relationship. You don't know this because you weren't there. Only Freddie and his partners knew what went on.
You know that the best way to find out how someone identifies is to ask them. You have assigned a gender identity to Freddie using some very patchy information, and speculation of your own (deliberately infecting himself because he was unhappy). Also statements like "Further evidence of his non-binary....." surely should read "Further evidence of their non-binary...". You are using gender specific pronouns for someone you believe to be transgender or non-binary. In other words you don't know Freddie's gender and all through your post you assign him a male pronoun. That would surely be enough to fail your paper......
It seems you consider most education beyond that of your own supreme and magnificent sphere to be rather useless. You come across as rather bitter and emotional. If you are writing a paper for a college, regardless of whether or not it is an unknown community college with REF rating, you still have to learn to keep your own emotions out of what you are writing.
Are you really that stupid? I've attended many rallys about LGQT+ rights and many people have agreed with me so I don't what you are talking about. I find it reckless who dismiss my arguments without evidence and hypocritically emotionally and bitter. Learn to respect others.

How did you know he was a man. Biological sex doesn't always determine their gender. So ignorant of you.
I'm a woman too.
I don't think I have offended you with anything. I just said I disagree with that. I like to hear different opinions and give my own.
However, if some of my words offended you,I apologize, I didn't have that intention.
But you don't call other people stupid because they don't think the same as you. They also have their own opinion.
Sadly in the UK retarded fuckwits like this have taken hold, empowered by the brainwashed loonies of the fascist left.
God help us.

For the last time, it's not a opinion. IT IS A FULL BLOWN FACT WITH EVIDENCE

That's so rude. How dare you judge me for being a genderfluid woman.
In my opinion miraclesteinway gave an educated reply that obviously took time and effort to construct.
Given the context of the original post and subsequent replies i can only deduce that this has to be a wind up and would suggest people not waste anymore time on replying.
Good luck presenting in this manner to obtain a degree...
