Hi everybody

I urge everyone who bought the news of the world 40th anniversary boxset, to have a listen to the analogue vinyl for any skipping!

I’ve now had 3 boxsets from hmv and all the vinyls have skipped, today I’m taking back boxset number 3 for a refund instead of an exchange.

I’ve emailed nick Weymouth at QPL so they are aware of the issues, so I urge you all to check

Cheers

I played mine once so far and it played well and actually sounded rather fantastic.
I will check again though.
Thanks for the notification.

Bless you! Was thinking same.

On a more serious note: balance your tone arm properly and make sure the stylus has the correct pressure.

Hahah yeah I’ve not a crossley I know all about the problems they have! But yeah on a serious note I’ve tested the same album from studio collection boxset and no issues

i have no problem with mine. i would imagine skipping with 3 copies is probably your turntable. is it always during the same song? is it during a louder track - ie. sheer heart attach, fight from the inside or it's late... consider adjusting your counter weight or track force. you may have too little or too much (i forget which).

a warp or skipping in the exact same spot on each vinyl - is a production flaw. this existed for me when purchasing the studio collection - two boxes had the exact same issue with the kind of magic vinyl. first minute had the exact same defect during the first minute - sounded like a tiny bump in the grooves that repeated for the first minute of the first song on each side. the third set played perfectly.

Yeah it’s in the same places with eac vinyl I’ve received, just as Brian’s solo kicks in for we will rock you it skips a few seconds ahead, and again in other songs including sleeping on the sidewalk

Sounds like they put the raw session version on instead :)

could be a batch of bad pressings - but i doubt it.

actually, it may be your stylus - to be honest, it seems to be a tracking problem rather than a QC problem... but i could be wrong. why not have hmv try out the one you return at their store?
