McCarten, who penned the Oscar nominated drama Darkest Hour, thinks Fletcher and Malek have done such a good job that the biopic could be an awards contender.
“It’s wrapped, it’s in the can and you heard it here first, it’s going to be extraordinary,” he says. “The movie, the music, the central performance by Rami Malek. He’d better have a tuxedo, because the stuff I’ve seen is stand out. Rami’s a brilliant Freddie, and he will rock you.”
It's a ridiculous concept. They were a rock'n'roll band that ended when Freddie died (some would argue they died around 1980).
A fucking cinematic drama is nothing to do with that.

Very few movies about famous musicians are successful....can the Queen Movie be a success like The Doors and Ray Charles? Only time will tell..hoping for the best.

Queen are entrenched in the public consciousness largely because they enjoyed and accepted change. This is not to say that this was always successful, but even commercial success does not always = quality.

Live Aid was in 1985, so basically It wasn't Queen who put on that great performance. Sure did look like them though. 1982 to 89 weren't the greatest albums from them, but they still put out plenty of great songs.

That sums it up perfectly, some folk just don't like change... I don't imagine this is going to rank alongside The Darkest Hour, but I am hopefull it will be of reasonable quality.

Always hated the fact that they wanted to make a movie about Freddie. It alters the public perception of him a lot more than a documentary would. A movie is sensational and much more limited than a documentary. It hypes up some stuff, plays down other stuff and ignores the rest. I like peoples view of him to be as accurate as possible and a movie is not gonna help. It's already a bit sad that most people only know the mustache at Wembley and the fact that he died when they think of him.
Give me The Magic Years, Champions Of The World, Days Of Our Lives or The Great Pretender any day instead of a bloody movie.

People only remember Freddie because he died? And Wembley? You people need to stop with the poor Queen are only remembered for a few songs and Aids. Even In America their least most popular country people could name over a dozen songs that will be remembered forever. Saying this while my local rock station is cranking out Tie Your Mother Down and Dragon Attack. I do agree a Movie will ignore gems like Queen 2 and concentrate once again on the hits, but it's like that with most bands. It did work for the Doors, it opened the ears for a new generation. I agree to some extent on what you're saying though.
