Can you help me identify these tracks?

I found these four old files with versions that I can't quite recognise. I included the filenames as they are:

Brian May - Broken
Last modified 2003-04-30
A guitar track that I don't think has anything to do with Queen's Brian May. Is this perhaps the other Brian May musician?

Hammer To Fall - unknown version
Last modified 2001-08-30
A slow version of HTF that's actually quite nice! Full instrumental, but this must be a cover by an unknown artist.

Rock It (rehearsal, 1979)
Last modified 2001-11-13
The year must be incorrect, but I think it's weird that we can hear "We want some prime jive" a cappella. Soundcheck?

wwryshof

We Will Rock You live performance with Brian on lead vocals. I thought "hof" would stand for Hall of Fame but I'm afraid it's not that.

Hi! I am not an expert or anything like that, but here are my two cents. The two first ones don't sound like Brian to me. I can't comment on Rock It, mainly because of the low quality.

As for the last one, it is indeed one of my favourite Queen- (does Queen minus exist?) performances, at their induction to the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003. More info on these links:

Well, that shows I'm an ignorant of their live performances (not that it means I know a lot more about anything else, I suppose). I correctly guessed "hall of fame" but instead of a quick google search (it shows up on the first page) I only looked at the concerts database excel file and somehow I missed it. Thanks for solving that one for me, Ogre :-)

The only real unknown track for me is "Rock It" (rehearsal or whatever it is). Does anybody know about it? I don't think it's a rare recording but I'd love to know where it came from.

By the way Ogre, I will have a "Queen minus" track for you next week :-P

I think it's supposed to be a recording of someone's kid singing over it in the studio if my memory serves me correctly.

I haven't downloaded the tracks yet, but from the description the Rock It track is the track which used to be distributed as with Jimmy May on vocals, Jimmy of course being Brian's son, the physiotherapist, but I was never sure if he was old enough to be able to be it him

Thank you for the info! I was just curious really. I think the Hammer To Fall track is very nice, it would be cool to know who covered it.

I'm almost done with my Unusual compilation! I'm currently checking some things and I think this "Somebody To Love (1976 piano demo)" is a mislabeled soundcheck. Where does this come from?

Rock It is just a chorus rehearsal in the studio, and you can hear a very young Jimmy May babbling.
