Why the hate regarding "The Loser in the End"?

Never thought it was a bad song. Maybe not Roger's best, but far from his worst.

Discuss.

It's quite lyrically and musically simple, to be honest it seems quite lazy to me. I'm a big fan of Roger's songs but I never really liked this one.

Plus, it pales in comparison to the rest of the album. An okay song, when compared to a load of masterpieces, suddenly seems a lot worse.

sounds pure classic rock, no reason for hate.

No hate...I Just don't think It's a very good song. Some of Roger stuff tends to grow on me over time, but not loser In The End. Doesn't fit Queen2 at all. Listen to Modern Times on the first record, a perfect fit. Same with Tenament Funster on Sheer Heart Attack. Two great ones from Roger.

I like it. Once I read in a mag that is a Steve Vai favourite.

Maybe the reason that it 'doesn't fit' is just why it's there in the first place; it's called contrast. It's a nice, fat kick in the face after the lush sounds of the previous tracks. Funny How Love Is there for the same reason.

I share all the pros and cons expressed here. It's not a great track, but is fine in context really. If the call was either See What a fool vs LITE I think they called right.

Loser in the End is like when your idiot half brother wearing a Kiss t-shirt wanders into the family photograph: everyone is embarrassed but no one wants to rock the boat by shoving him out of frame.

Good one Holly

Roger must have liked it though. He ripped it off for The Cross' Power To Love.

On 'Hot Space' it would've been the best track by far. On 'Queen II', it's by far the worst.
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.

Nonsense!....Action this Day is better, Back Chat is better, under pressure is better, words of Love is better. Cool Cat is better. Just because a song has heavy guitar and drums Doesn't make it good.

I'd say in a certain mood it's not the worst track on QII
