Songs They Attempted But Didnt Make It ON The Set

In a bunch of documentaries Brian has said that they tried songs and if they didnt work, then they didnt put them on the setlist. Does anyone know what songs they tried?

Long Away, Football Fight(apparently was played at the 11/3/1982 soundcheck). Here are the various songs that were rehearsed but not played on the Works tour;Great King Rat (longer version), Brighton Rock (full song), I'm In Love With My Car, Sweet Lady, White Man, We Will Rock You (fast), Play The Game, Need Your Loving Tonight, Put Out The Fire, Las Palabras de Amor, Life Is Real (both Freddie solo piano and Freddie/Brian acoustic duet versions) . I'm pretty sure some people saw 'Is This The World We Created' on the setlist on some of the 2005 shows.

They rehearsed Long Away for the North American Tour in 1977 and very nearly included it in the set at the time.
Mad The Swine was also played at a few shows in the UK around 1971/1972 and once in America in 1974.

Would be interesting to hear that with Freddie on vocals. A shame it didn't make the set.

And the last few years have learned us that they must have recordings of those rarities...
Who would have expected FFMS or SOTS?

I was at the 2005 concert in Arnhem at the front of the stage and I saw "Is This the World We Created" and "Sleeping on the Sidewalk" pass on their autocue/monitor. I sure that they rehearsed those songs for inclusion on the tour.

During sound check I could also hear parts of "Seven Seas of Rhye" and "Now I'm Here". Could be that they just used those for setting the tune.

Mad the Swine? I'm not so sure about that. Do you have a source to back this up?

He worked for the band for about 15 years, so I'd say that's a pretty rock solid source.

Didn't know that, although I am still inclined to be skeptical about a 1974 performance of the song. I can believe that a 1971 performance happened though. Of course, the members of the band themselves have gotten information wrong too, like the time Brian said that the lighting rig nearly collapsed in Rotterdam 1978, when it was actually Brussels 1978.

I heard Queen + Adamn Lamebird rehearsed Drowse; can anyone confirm that?

Rotterdam/Brussels from the same year is an easy mistake for Brian to make. Gary saying that MTS was played once in America in 1974 is fairly specific, especially coming from someone that worked alongside their archivist. I'm sure there is more information that he has on this, that being a specific date. I wouldn't be surprised if they had this recording in their archives as well.

If they did, a song like that one would've certainly stood out when they were going through the archive. I don't see any good reason why not trust a source who's demonstrated their reliability over the years.

The case of Brian mistaking a venue or an album is completely different.
