My sister is living with us. I'm already married but the problem is we are different from each other. I like loud music and she hates those and makes her feel irritated. I do not know what's happening to her? I do not know if its because she just broke up with her boyfriend or what? Any advice about such situation?

No, guys. This is something serious. I only hope it could be solved by just a headphone or a good music but I guess, its a depressive disorder that will need help. Seriously, what can you suggest?

I don't think this is the place tbh. She might just be down because of the break-up, or she might just be an irritable shit who doesn't like the music you've every right to play in your own home. If you think there's a disorder, you might need to suggest a doctor, but that's up to her. If you think it's just your music, then either try the headphones or tell her it's your place.

It is your house, as long as you aren't playing music at daft o clock or at a million decibels then you are not being unreasonable. I think it is important you tell us how old she is there is a huge difference between a 15 and 35 year old.

So she is irritated even if you use headphones to listen to loud music?
Can she go for a walk when you play loud music?
Can she find another place to live?
How are her coping skills otherwise (besides loud music)?
If she really has a clinical depression issue, she has to be honest with herself and actually want help. "Badgering" will not work unless she is actually Brian May.

I appreciate all your thoughts and point of view about my sister. Some of you here might be correct. She's kinda irritable because of her recent break-up. I'm only afraid that a sort kind of stress may be developing into a mild depression. I hope it will not. In such a situation, perhaps she might need an advice about managing stress.

I think I'm beginning to understand why her boyfriend broke up with her ;)

Hi, everyone. Thanks again for all your thoughts and concerns about my sister. By the way, she's only 27 and she's undergoing a counseling these days. Actually, I've seen some improvements in her behavior and hoping it will be better soon.

Thats a fair point, not the first time i've been annoyed by a noise that others don't seem to mind
