At 2:00 of this killer solo, there's a little Queen connection. Spot it !!

I'm sure it was just in Brian's subconscious, as so often these things just have to come from somewhere.

Is that the Peter Straker one? Was listening to it the other day during a Straker binge.

Can't say I hear anything other than a quite-nice but rather-generic minor pentatonic lick.

The feel of the song and solo calls to mind You Don't Fool Me a little. But I can't imagine that there's any direct link, consciously or subconsciously, between this and anything Bri played.

What am I missing?

There's one lick that's in the beginning of My Baby Does Me, pretty much note for note.

Nice find. It does sound similar to my amateur ears.

I was hearing similarities with the solo in Dancer, but not nearly note for note. Anyhow, I think we can safely say that The Alan Parsons Project is responsible for the Thriller album.

I have no idea what is going on. It sounds like one of those guitar parts that if you close your eyes it could sound like anything. It certainly doesn't resemble a Queen piece as far as I'm concerned.

I trust OP's ears in this regard, but the general feel was a la Back Chat to me

"the general feel was a la back chat to me", "I was hearing similarities with the solo in Dancer"

Wasn't an attempt at sidetracking, more of an attempt at humor, poking fun at Brian's statement about Hot Space influencing Thriller. Seeing as I heard a resemblance to Brian's playing on Hot Space, I think it was appropriate. Whether or not it was funny, that's debatable, but not worth anyone's time to actually debate.

As for the name cobohall, thanks for the nod. I saw my first Queen concert at Cobo Hall on November 9, 1978, at the age of 12. What an experience.

*goodco*, are you also from Detroit?
