Box sets vs Anthology

I think I'd said it before in another thread - since Queen signed with Universal they've been functioning as a proper entity. What should have happened was, some time in the early 2000s when they were doing stuff with 5ive and whatever, they should have released what became the 40th anniversary editions with bonus EPs. Imagine getting that back then, and then getting all the stuff we've had since, it would have been brill, and much more befitting of the band.

Instead, we've have a decade of nonsense, to suddenly get promised a lot that, in our context, falls short at times.

Not saying it makes it right that we occasionally get repeats of a lot of stuff we've had before, but it does add a different context to it all.

But I'm not sure it does; this is a band that ARE still functioning as a touring outfit, but doing NOTHING OTHER than trading on the contents of the three GH volumes. YET, people still complain that they aren't getting what they want in terms of rarities and out-takes even though there has been a slow trickle of material in recent times.

If you expect nothing of any import from QPL, then what you DO get may just shock and surprise.
