Last night i was on you tube and came across a interview that Roger did with a lady presenter. They were mainly talking about Queen On Air and how it had been put together.During the interview looked very bored by it all.He said that they never really set out to be a singles band. The presenter then asked Roger if He and Brian were going to get all the stuff that had never been heard before for a full and comprehensive Anthology.Roger said they had no interest in such a project and that they might be interested in doing a new album with Adam instead.Roger asked the presenter if she had seen Adam, she said yes i have.Roger said he is fantastic isn't he?I wish i could have replied to this question.I have always liked Roger and felt he was in touch with the fans, but i was very disappointed with this interview and we have no final Anthology to look forward to.

Ro and Bri they are real motherfucker gentlemen who suck money from re-relese old very well known material and I do not have something respect them.

How much money can be pumped out of fans by re-issue of the old well-known material. Now the defenders will come running in and say something like that, not they let it out. But the decision is still for them. It's their music, not the manager of Jim Miami Beach. Now the defenders will come running and say they have the right to do whatever they want. They have the right to retire.

You're calling them money grabbers for releasing old material in answer to a post complaining they won't be releasing the anthology. How does that make any sense whatsoever.

Well there we are a band that has been so adored for 44 years and Roger & Brian do not look after the ardent fans like myself, instead they want to waste what little time they have left by releasing and album with
the American Idol looser which will flop big time. Queen should be getting classic unheard songs out for the fans that got them into the limelight all those years ago.
Fans that stuck up for them through thick & thin like myself. Roger has become very flippant and Brian a money sucking leach.

That interview was from last year but since then Adam and Brian have both said they have no intention of recording anything together and certainly not an album. Only Roger has ever seemed keen on the idea anyway so if they ever do I can only see them doing a single.

I can see where Roger's coming from personally, how many people want to keep rehashing work they did years ago, which is essentially what it would be to them. Brian has said there's virtually nothing new left in the vaults so they would just be releasing stuff they've already put out, another chance for the fans to complain they're money grabbing, but aside from that what's the point in keep releasing the same stuff over and over? There could be other stuff left but I would have thought they would have released it ages ago before they ever started touring again and whilst it was still worthwhile money wise if that was the case. They could re-master some stuff but in today's industry they make very little from physical releases or even streaming, the money's in touring, so it's a lot of work for very little if any reward. This year they made $8.7 million from touring as opposed to $2.1 million from sales and $1.8 million from streaming.

Some people just don't want to keep living in the past, they've all got other interests, Brian especially, and considering Roger works on stuff of his own and is joining Spike for his All Stars thingy he clearly likes to be doing new things.

Roger said that they don't look their archive like Jimmy Page does for Led Zeppelin. However a year later Queen released News of the world raw sessions. Also in 2014 they released Rainbow, 2015 Hammersmith and 2016 On Air.

Only rainbow and news of the world raw from the previous releases were great.

2017 proved that this theory is false (nothing new is left in the vaults). Not only did they release NOTW sessions rarities, but also there was an Innuendo Back To Tapes event when someone who was there noted that whatever the band played it was taped and the studio engineers left it all and they spent hours listening only 4 or 5 tracks (2 hours spent only on the title track).

According to Freddie back in 1989 he said there was lots of songs they had worked on for The Miracle album left over. i do not believe for a moment Queen are dried up, they have the material there
but because they are making money at the moment they refuse to release it.
Queen have been together longer than The Beatles and even The Beatles keep on releasing unheard of material it goes on and on etc....... Queen are fibbing.

What a depressing interview with Roger. No one is interested in new material by you or a variation of Queen. You have one of the biggest fan bases in the world who'd lap up properly curated unreleased recordings. Duh! Pity you left it over 20 years late, and you wouldn't make a fraction of what you would have done if this shit had come out in the 90's even if you did now.

And of course the band's archive isn't empty - it's fucking enormous and they haven't even begun to scratch the surface. What turned up on the NOTW release is mostly hybrid mixes. I feel Brian may have been referring to actual new songs - but even then, the archive isn't empty.

Ah well maybe they just aren't interested in trawling through it then, like you said they won't make a fraction of the money they would have and Brian especially is constantly busy.

Roger just wants your money and for as little in return as possible. QPL business model, y'see.

Not true ... The Roger Taylor box set was a good deal. Jim Beach and Brian are the likely extortionists.

People blame bands for all the greatest hits releases and half baked box sets, but they don't realize that 70 year old rock stars and their managers have very little influence over how major record labels conduct their business. The majority of rock re-releases in the past 20 years have not been at the artist's recommendation. The label calls the shots because their round table sees an opportunity to make money off a band - not the other way around.

Follow the money, and ask yourself who has more of it. It ain't the artist. And the artist sees maybe 5% off the top, while the label and publisher take the lion's share. The artist is seen as disposable, and merely an expense. The biggest bands are brands now.

The reason why the Roger Taylor box set was good is because it was a small ticket item that wouldn't be bought by too many people to begin with. It's the same reason why King Crimson box sets are well designed - it's an extremely niche market. That's not the case for Queen. King Crimson isn't a cash cow. Queen is. The mentality towards each is different.
