...Cause *as far as i know* they'd ALREADY reached their goal but had upped the price range twice or something so far after securing the rights/hiring a book agent and now are in the finalization stages of the design etc.
I believe part of that reasoning was to stay in touch with contributors
And another part of it was to allow others to spread the word and/or "get in on the ground floor" (*i.e. offer fans an opportunity to get a signed copy by the authors instead of the likely alternative of having to attend a book signing etc)
That's just my take because it seems that they're doing their best to ensure it's a quality product and meets THEIR (and Lee's apparently flair for photography/design) requirements& approval.
As far as the rest goes: it's been stated repeatedly that if anyone feels like it's not worth the wait or (gulp) they're being "scammed" then they can request their money back at any time.
